SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: ECU tuning input
Has anyone used them, heard of good or bad things about them?
The tuner I'm communicating with has the same SL 55 AMG as me and has tuned his own car. They specialize in MB tunes and are telling me they'll return my ECU that will have my car putting out 580HP with 612TQ.
Are those numbers realistic?
Any feedback would be helpful.
Thanks

Thanks for the info and actual results after the tune.
Does 580 HP and 608 TQ sound unachievable? That's what I'm being told will be my new numbers after they do a stage 2 tune. My only mod is an 83mm pulley install.
Is it mandatory to install the updated Bosch water pump or is it suggested?
I'm not an aggressive type driver constantly, but I certainly don't want to damage internals due to neglecting to update the pump.
Thanks for your help,
Mark
You are not in danger of hurting the engine by not replacing the pump. It will be just that your S/C will become heat soaked and you'll loose power. The replacement Bosch pump is much more capable and durable. As you push power beyond a stage 1 tune improving the IC capacity becomes paramount.
Regarding the updated Bosch IC pump, is that a relatively easy swap-out or is it a dealer expense?
If the pump is hard to get to and a lot of other parts need to be removed to do this job, I'd rather pay the experts.
Anybody put that pump in themselves?
Thanks

There is also a rubber tube on the rear of the old style pump. The new pumps have a place to land this rubber hose, but is not drilled out. I don't have an older model SL55, so I don't know the significance of this rubber hose on earlier models. FYI
