I think it looks like the SL one.

Yes, that is the R230 SL antenna. It screws right onto the stock antenna base in the SLK, but the radio reception is the same as if you removed your SLK's antenna.

Is that good or bad, haven't tried the radio w/o the ant yet.

Generally, it's bad, but if you live in a big city with strong signals and don't have interferance from buildings etc, you may not even notice the difference on FM. AM reception will likely get worse, though.

I wonder if you can wire in an antenna amplifier to improve reception.

I had to go to the dealer today (in Seattle) to pick-up my car. They replaced the right side door panel. I talked to the parts guy and here are the numbers:

Base: 230-820-1075 $112.14
Antenna: 230-827-0101 $99.80

I told him that my car was paint code 744 (brilliant silver) so the numbers may reflect that. Also, there are two different antennas. one for the US and another for Canada. Both are short but work for different frequencies. The one shown is for the US.
