18" AMGs are back on!
I put my stock 18" AMGs back on and this time they're wrapped in Michelin's.
I like the look, along with the return of stock ride quality. The AMG multi-piece wheels really set the car off and define AMG!
The PS2s are extreamly quiet and have amazing grip! They make for a perfect all around wet/dry performance tire. They look great too!

Nice classic look and your choice of tyres is excellent I can concur every bit as I have the same (tyres). The rears do wear out faster than the fronts though (2 sets for 1 set on front)

The SLK55 is very fun to drive. The Performance Package makes the suspension and braking very responsive creating a very fun driving experience on city streets. Even though its lighter weight is a plus, its small size makes for an uncomfortable ride.
The SL55 is a luxurious cruiser. Even though it has more power, its heavier weight makes it less responsive than the SLK55. However, the SL55 is a lot more luxurious and comfortable creating an amazing driving experience on long trips.

Out of interest the Safety Car wheels have less of a spoke curl at the rim - similar to the E Class iteration of the wheel.

The SLK55 AMG Safety Car (2004-2005) had 19" AMG wheels and used 235/35/19 front tires and 265/30/19 rear tires. Not sure of the offsets though, but I would imagine the wheels size and offsets are the same as the SLK55 Black Series which also has 19" wheels. Yes, the wheels have less of a spoke curl at the rim which is simular to the 19" AMG P030 wheels on the SL55 and CLS55/63 and earlier S, CL, and SL 65s.

Thank you for the info. Appreciate the attention to detail. I don't know the SLK well other than mechanically. I have recently been contemplating adding an SLK55 to the garage. Some ultra low mileage cars available on our market with launch of the new SLK. I've just never bought a used Benz before & worry about how AMG's get driven here.

I wouldn't worry about purchasing a used AMG. They are built very well and can take abuse. Just search for low mileage with good service history and non-modified and you should have no issues. I purchased my SLK55 used with 30K miles. I had a few things replaced under warranty and now have 70K miles with no issues. I just recently purchased a 2008 CLS63 with 28K miles for less than half of it's original price. I think that's a steal!
I would also suggest looking for the additional P030 Performance Package which is an awesome deal when purchased used. Here is what the P030 Package will give you.

Thanks once again. I have driven 7 X SLK 55's in the past week between 10 & 20,000 miles on the clock. The highest miler I drove today. All engines were sound & fabulous & performance is more than I could ever wish for. All showed signs of transmission distress with excessive lash & two of them were heading for the classic 722.9 TC, Input shaft bearing & oil pump failure. Horrendous whine. 3 did not have the latest transmission flash & clonked badly when braking fast to a halt on the down change (OK that is easily remedied) All rattled & creaked compared with a dead silent Benz sedan at double the mileage. I then drove a 30,000 mile SLK 350 that I know that has been loved & it was the tightest of all with no issues.
Do all SLK's rattle & creak?
I'm more determined than ever to find an SLK or CLK (Yes - very different cars) That I can live with. Mid life crisis.

I personally hated the wheels. There are so many copied on Ebay. The look are so out dated. If everything goes well on the 23th of November, I'll pick up a loaded 2009 Slk55 with "AMG Performance Packages". I will definitely get rid of the wheel and put something on more update look. Here's she is.............

I also have some 19" Brabus Monoblock S wheels which I put on from time to time. My girl mainly drives this car and she prefers the Brabus wheels.

Good luck & enjoy!
The performance pack suspension is too bone jarring for me.
