Are all AMG 6 Piston calipers created equal?

Are all front AMG 6 Piston calipers the same? For instance, are the 6 piston calipers on SLK55 the same as those fitted to larger models. ie, 2007+ E55, 2008 SL55, etc?

The 6 piston calipers that AMG installs on all of their AMG cars are the same.

lol...This is an old thread. Through research I've since answered my own question. There's only an older and newer version of 6 pot caliper, not different ones for different models. About the only thing that gets changed is the mounting brackets. 6 & 8 pot gear is not interchangeable.

You are absolutely right, Brembo manufactures the calipers for AMG Mercedes. And they are all the same, the only difference is the mounting brackets, for the different models of cars.
My E63 has 6 piston calipers, where the E55 has 8 pistons. The E63 uses a two piece rotor, as where the E55 used a one piece rotor. I know that the C55 used a 4 piston caliper, and not 6 or 8, I'm not saying that they won't fit. They are allot larger, in fact huge in comparison. You would need a wheel with the proper offset to clear the rotors and calipers, if you managed to fit them. I can see why they wouldn't fit, but you would need the bracket. The C230 utilizes big rotors as is, I can't see why you can't put on 6 pistons, but keep in mind that some models utilizes thicker rotors, and the diameters are larger as wheel. So some wheels will not clear, the brakes. I would definitely call Mercedes for verification, of the possibilty that they will work, make sure it's a technician. Or talk to a independant shop.

I'm having my shop foreman at American Service center in Arlington, VA look into it. I can't see why the E63, CLK63 calipers and rotors won't fit on other Mercedes. I know that you require larger wheels and tires, but the rotors should bolt on no problem. But he's going to check for me.

See my 'Coin' thread for a possible difference: https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...t-coin-ed.html . They may well have different length mounting arms and take different size rotors.

From my experience, the clk's calipers have longer arms and take larger rotors... at least on the 4-pot calipers.

I'm not worried if the calipers are from W209 AMG CLK63 6 Piston. I know they will fit perfectly providing the rotors are big enough for the CLK's calipers. The installation is just plug n play to fit W203. I know few people have done this successfully before like Tudu, Russel and few more. What concerns me was with the W211 AMG E63 6 piston calipers.

Anyway, I've found W209 AMG CLK63 calipers front and rear now from SGMerc. I don't have to worry & search anymore.. but the question regarding the W203 fitting issue with the E63 calipers remains unsolved..
