Open the hood and if you are facing the motor is a black plastic cap about
3 inches round, front right of motor right next to you power steering resevour (sp?). Loosen that first than drain your oil. is takes 7.9 qts. Make sure you use synthetic, MB recomends Mobil 1.

Get 9 Quarts of oil. Even the 3.2 V6 uses 8.5 quarts. Here is a tutorial:

M112 engines take 8.5 qts. M113 engines take 9.0 qts. Except the AMG engines have a windage tray in the oil pan which takes up space. Trust me i have been working in a MB dealer for the last 8 years.

'04 Silverado Z71 - sold all my Benzes and need another!
It's also the easiest when you have an oil extracting pump (I think that's what it's called) so you don't have to drain from the oil pan...

Well I have a 2000 E55...I had a german auto shop put 9 in and when I checked the oil it was a quart over!! So I had them drain the extra quart. I also showed them in the manual where it said the car took 8 quarts.

I personaly don't like the extraction pumps. They don't really get everything out like draining it. We used to use them at out dealer and constant issues with oil high or oil low light comming on after an oil change.

i just did mine again yesterday, i always use the Topsider on this car, it's a pain to even get it on ramps made for lowered cars.
manual does say 8 quarts, but in actuallity is closer to 8.5 quarts since you'll need some oil for the filter to get soaked in.
as far as the filter socket is the special tool from MB they run under $20, and you'll need a 22mm socket for the other end of it.
3 Orings on the filter. (filters come with 5 orings, since newer cars use same filter but have more orings, don't let that throw you off ;p)
0w40 mobil 1 always ;p

Remember you have to let the engine run and get the oil up to operating temperature before you get an acurate reading. Oil level will change on the dipstick by about 5mm up or down depending on oil temp.
