Went to the track yesterday
Went 11.82 on motor with dr's and 11.37 on the NOS. Only got one run on the nitrous because they threw me out for not having a cage.
I am installing the asp pulley kit today and getting the ecu programed. The goal is to go again on wednesday for a bonzai run.
I'm a little disappointed with the trap speed on the NOS. I need to buy a data logger so that I can log my runs. Anybody have any suggestions on a good one ?

That's the beauty of the beast....we get bummed at 11.37.
I think it was killler my friend.
Can you share just a few things. Mostly I wanna know about your NOS system. I may be installing in the Spring.
1) What do you have wet/dry
2) WOT or no
3) how did you get the switch into the cabin??
4) If wet, where did you tap the fuel line.
also, what mods from what manufacturer are you running.
You'll get 10's for sure.

I also changed the stock inter-cooler pump for a johnson pump three weeks ago.

Had a great time at Moroso last night, but it didn’t start off so well
Arrived too early and had to wait outside the gates and got into the typical “whats your best time” discussion with all the other guys out there. Of course the weather was the reason that the crowds showed up in force. Well anyway everyone was saying that the weather would be good for 2/10ths compared to regular Moroso conditions.
So I was totally pumped when I went in, expecting to bring my 12.33 time into the really low 12’s.
Set my tires at 25psi back and 40psi up front. Had just under ½ tank of gas. Conditions were “perfect”. 65degrees to start with and relative humidity in the mid 50’s. Was planning to run the whole night with tranny on S mode, suspension at comfort level, and ESP off.
Run #1. Motor had lots of time to cool down and everything was looking great for an awesome run. I was the 2nd car down the track that night. Did a burn out, staged and did my first run. Launched too hard and spun real bad – 12.582 - WTF!!!! I was going backwards. 60ft time was 2.186, more than 3/10ths off my best. Trap speed however was my best to date at 115.51. Track was cold and a bit slick. A hot Mustang next to me got the drop, ran a faster 60ft time and nailed me to the line. Was really bummed.
Run #2. Hot lapped it around and did my 2nd run 5 minutes later. EVEN WORSE! 60ft at 2.169, 1/4 mile at 12.863 at 115.14. I was ready to commit suicide. Everything was going wrong – couldn’t get the drive off the line.
Run #3. Tried with ESP on to see it it would help. 3rd run was no better with 12.489 at 114.6 mph again. Still 2+ seconds for the 60ft.
Run #4. Switched to left hand lane and back to ESP off for the 4th run and things started to come together. Track was beginning to get stickier as more cars started laying rubber. Focused on feeding in the throttle slowly and letting it sit before I mashed it, and had a way better launch with way less wheel spin, got a 1.96 60ft and 12.331 1/4mile at 115.16mph. Best E/T too date.
Run #5. Things started coming together. Launch felt awesome and I nailed a 1.883 60ft and 12.297 1/4 at 114.47mph. Now I had a 12.2 car – things were looking up. (funny how we drop off the fractions and round it down in our minds)
Run # 6. YEAH BABY – what a sweet launch – it just sat and squatted and hooked and pulled. Best 60ft to date – 1.784 on plain old street tires. ¼ mile whizzed by at 12.169 at 114.14mph YEEEHAH! Now I’ve got a 12.1 car!!!!!!
Runs # 7 and # 8. Got way greedy off the line and smoked the tires again. Still the last run was a 12.353. Damn – my launches are still so inconsistent. Way more work to do.
So what did I learn / accomplish.
The cold weather made a big difference – I would guess it meant about .15 secs in the ¼ mile.
A cold track with lots of humidity means it gets real slick (in fact throughout the night Moroso threatened to switch to 1/8 mile only as they were so concerned with dew on the track)
My car unfortunately just doesn’t have 116 – 118mph trap speeds in it (like some of you guys have), so for me its all about the launch. And my launches are still so inconsistent.
Nevertheless I am a happy boy (or old fart - whichever you prefer) today with my bone stock run of 1.784 - 12.169 at 114.14.
I now have 1 run in the 12.1’s, one run in the 12.2’s and 6 runs in the 12.3’s
It was certainly a fun (if freezing) evening for me. I had a blast.
RFLOW306 had some awesome runs – Every time he ran down the strip I told him that anything less than 10.95 would be total disrespect to Derek’s wheels and tires!
Unfortunately not one of the guys at the M5Board showed up. Really looking forward to meeting those boys. It seems strange that they wouldn’t want to take the opportunity to post the best times for their cars.
Could be a good group this Wednesday 11th – anyone coming out?

Hey siswati why don't you put the car on jack stands and break the car in with the cruise control. :v . Or better yet take the wife to dinner in tampa that way you could clear the 1200 mile break-in period. . We need you there on wed or friday you are like the Grand Puba.

WOW, holy cow. Great times. Isn't 11.82 the fastest stock time yet (with rubber)? And isn't 11.37 the second fastest E55 yet and the fastest on NOS only? I'm pretty sure it is. I would consider that one heck of a success. These cars are incredible.

Derek it's the shoes.
Again Derek without you leading the way I would have never followed. This forum owes you a lot for proving what's possible with these cars.

Hey Rflow306 and DerekFSU
had tons of fun with my E55 at the track and plan to do the same with the CLS55 - hoping that the LSD with have something to add
Albert, I know you are not finished yet. I saw the ***** eating grin on your face after both runs last Friday - I know you have more developments panned - I am watching your progress closely - have a feeling that you have Derek firmly in your sights.
And for those of you who havent seen an E55 launch with the aid of those sticky 16 DR's - man its a thing of pure beauty. You can load up the converter until the tires are almost breaking loose, and as the light goes, just dump the break and stomp the gas (well at least thats what it looks form the trackside - I havent done it myself). The beast just squats and tears at the strip.
If you compare Rflows time (his 11.824 run on motor) with my best (12.169) you will see his 60ft is an off the chart 1.711. On street tires mine is still a respectable 1.784, but Albert,s already .07 seconds ahead at 60ft! WOW.
By the time he hits the 1/8 mile mark he's only taken 7.56 secs and I am way back at 7.82 - he's already 3/10ths ahead at 1/8 mile - do you have any idea what a gap that is!!!!
Whats also obvious is that his motor is stronger than my E55 - he traps at 115.35mph with his 11.824 - I am only at 114.14mph despite being on the gas for almost 1/2 a second longer.
Can definitely see a set of wheels and tires for the strip will be on the long term agenda with the new CLS
MUch fun ahead boys
And yes Derek - Roebling Road is on my genda too, along with Sebring and Homestead. Will keep you boys posted!
