I didn't like it at all. It just does not seem like mercedes put any effort in the design of the new body kit, it almost looks after-market, not so much the rear but the new bumper looks out of place on the body and the rest of the car. The rims don't look good either. The badge on the fenders is so cheesy too. The new seats were nice, same as the ones in the cls55, but the black gages sucked. Just my opinion. As for the rest of the show, saw some great Lamborghini Gallardos and Murcielagos, the new S65 was beautiful, the new
ML 63 looked great also, had a CLS 63 their that looked good. Anyway it was a good show, definitely better than last years...just disappointed with the new E63.

from the pic i saw on another thread here, the seats look like they're identical to the ones in the '05 cls 55. is that so? and aside from the ultrasuede shoulderpads, isn't the rest of the seat identical (contour-wise) but for the direction of the stitching? inquiring minds would like to know...

I wonder how the front licence plate will fit on the pointy bumper?

the pointy front makes it look like a Caddy hybrid......

Is this because of the compliance to the new pedestrian impact standard to decrease the point of impact on the pedestrian?

From the pictures I've seen, I'll have to agree. I see no real aesthetic improvements. I think my E55 is safe for now.

+1

You people are in denial, you dont want to admit that you like it just coz it has 50 ft of trq less and no tuning potential lol

But on the other hand this engne was build by AMG! Not tuned! Its somthing special!!!

YEah so when will it appear in the magazine already!!!

Those is some pretty strong words.

Yes, I'm sure the 6.3 will be a strong engine but I'm confident it's not going to "eat" the 55 for lunch (at least not in a straight line). As far as going up against a tuned 55....................I think I know where I'll put my money.

It may be faster ... but to say it will be eaten for lunch- no chance. Dont forget the E55 engine is underrated. I think most of the guys here who did dynos on their non modded engines were running about 500hp. The E63 does have a great engine but as I have said before that's it. You can't mod it like you can the E55. All you need on an E55 is a K1 or Evo1 package and any sort of paper advantage is gone. As for the street advantage lets wait and see....

It is about time that someone else pointed this about. The w211 E55 is putting about 500hp stock. I actually think the new e63 will be slower than the e55. That is of course until the E63 gets a turbo. Only time will tell.

Overall, I like all the new enhancements of the E63, with the exception of the black gauges. The white gauges on the e55 are so much more attractive and involving.

Come on man do you really think AMG would release a newer car that is slower then the old one? Come on.

i think it will be a bit faster before 100 mph like maybe .5 seconds, 2-2.5 seconds faster up to 150 due the gearing, and it will be a way better handler due to lighter engine and better chassis and suspension.

P.s going to my delaer now ask him few question!

I went with a friend to the show and my friend used to work for mercedes so he knew people there. Got to sit in the SLR! Anyways, according to the mercedes rep, the 63's are just as loud as the SLR at WOT! I cant wait to hear that!

Actually... Yes. The majority of people who buy these cars do so based on the marketing. They figure because it has an advertised 513 hp it must be better. Having the 7g tranny is definitely going to be awesome and like I said, only time will tell.

Even if it is a tad bit faster, I honestly could car less. My E55K2 is putting down nearly 600hp and close to 650 ft. lbs.

BOB-- when are you going to buy a car? You've been talking about it forever.

Well I`m talking about stock models. I also don`t believe the E63 will have the off the line traction problems that the E55 does. Opon opon throttle the E55 releases most of it`s monster torque very earily in the REV band. When speeds reach 135-140mph the torque dies off.The E63 will beat it not only from the start but at higher speeds like 140mph! The G7 transmission makes much better use of the torque band than the 5-speed used in the E55 and is more efficient with less torque gaps than the 5-speed. This is one of the reasons it will beat the M5 at higher speeds. The torque in the E63 is released at a higher rpm and is better managed.

I have seen a video of a rolling start race where a new M5 was like 24 car lengths ahead of the E55 when speeds reach 140mph. Thats proof that most of the 516lb-ft of torque is released too earily in the REV band!
This won`t happen with the E63.

E55 AMG 516lb-ft @2650rpm. too much torque too early, smoking tires.
E63 AMG 465lb-ft @5200rpm. smoother off the line starts, improved times.
