FYI... All current 80mm TB kits are now shipping with new style 1piece cast inlets. No more 3/8" aluminum plate. 3 kits are currently on hand and available.
The new style kits have already been installed by some well known vendors on this board and everything fits just perfect.. Now the engine bay truly does look completely stock when you pop the hood..

Due to a scheduling glitch I wasn't able to run before-and-after dynos so I cannot give specific HP numbers. However, I can tell you how it feels seat-of-the-pantswise: it's terrific!
Specifically, the car's throttle response is noticeably improved. Driving around town has never been so much fun. My Merdcedes SA also commented on how unusually strong my SL55 is.

my car is also stock with the 80mm TB. No regrets. ESP light is flashing more often. dyno will happen in a week or two but there is more power without a doubt. I feel the biggest difference in the upper rpm range.
My problem now with this mod is that I am getting wheel hop big time from a launch or low speed roll on
Great mod

Any recommended shop or installer in Las Vegas?
I just ordered one of VRUS's TB. Yeeeh baby!!!!! The problem is that I still need to find a shop or installer to install the TB here in Las Vegas. Any one know of such a shop or installer in Las Vegas? Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks ahead of time.

I have the same problem with an installer. I would like to try one of these throttle bodies but I just called my local shop and they declined. They said if it was just replacing stock for stock it would be no problem. I'm sure they are thinking that they may run into problems with aftermarket parts.
I am hesitant about using the dealer for warranty reasons.

Hey Sam,
Like the guys said, the TB really improves the overall driveability of the car. Of course power improvement wont be as great as on a car with mods, but, from what the guys who have bought it tell me, the car responds very well to it.
If there is someone local to you that has one installed, maybe you can get a ride and get some first-hand feedback. If you decide you want one, you know where to find me.
I checked the list of people that purchased but no one is from LV... Sorry.. I dont know anyone down there personally.. Try the list that MNG posted.. I believe those guys are all Kleemann dealers so they have experience doing the installs.
Actually, the 80mm TB kit looks like a factory replacement part. The install shop would not be able to tell the difference between it and the stock piece. It's not a difficult install, its just a very involved one.. The S/C has to come out of the car. A novice installer will probably take 6hrs - 8hrs. A trained MB tech should be able to pull it off in 4hrs - 5hrs.
There is nothing custom that has to be done to install it.. I use all factory pieces and everything that is needed to install it comes in the box. Plus, anyone that has bought a kit passes my cell # onto the installer.. If they have questions they can call me before or during the install.
If you tell me what part of the country you are in, I'll check and see if there is a dealer that is experienced with my kit. I've got people in most of the states that have purchased a kit so I am sure someone can recommend a place.

umm just a question?
Does anyone know if our old TB's can be use by another car? That way we all dont have parts sitting in our garage when we could sell them to someone who could use them?

That thought crossed my mind too... Just havent figured out what can be done with them yet.
We can definitely re-use the stock inlets because I can get them ported & have plates made for them to work with 80mm TBs..

I remember Vadim saying that he did some testing on a C32 and found that increasing the TB size did not provide any performance gains.
No problem at all. Good luck with your mods.. The more you do to the car, the more benefit you will see from the 80mm TB.

Yee Hawwwww!!! Will be Installing my VRUS TB Mon.
I am like a kid in a candy store right now!!! I got my TB from VRUS today and made arrangements to have it installed Monday. Thanks to people from this forum I found an installer with experience on the E55 and our W211 engines. Thanks for all the response and help!!!! I will do a post dyno a few days after the TB install. Currently, I have a K2 kit. The baseline or pre-k2 dyno and k2 dyno is on another thread in this forum ("Any other wagons out there"). In my excitement, I took pics of the VRUS TB Kit and wanted to share.

Hey Jack! Glad you like it... I am sure you will like it even more once you've driven the car..
LOL.. A wagon running around with that much power is just too sneaky.. I can imagine the look on people's faces that drive sports cars when they get spanked by the "grocery getter".. LOL.. You guys... Have fun!!!
