Guys....

There's no free horsepower here. All this does, on some cars, is to get rid of the lazy, slow shifts that the tranny adapts to when driving it softly.

Nothing more.

Sneaky works on my 55, but you do, in fact need SDS to reset the 63. I have both and can confirm this.

Count another believer here! I did this with my new E55 and holy $%^&! It's a monster now!

I do this everytime I come home from work so the next morning when I fire it up, I smile in anticipation.

Thanks for the tip!

I just tested it on a 2010 C300 rental car. And it really work. It shifts at higher rpm in "S" mode. I wonder if this appy to previous porsche model like 2002 996. Or only mercedes.

2006 e350-Big time acceleration lag. I took it in last week and they claim to have installed a software update. Super big difference. It's like a different car.

In fact many of the settings you change become true when you lock your doors and the car goes to sleep mode. I think that is one of the reasons why you have to wait for 2 minutes.

Searched the thread for E350 and didn't find anything...Does a 2008 E350 have an ECU? If so, will this reset trick work on it?

ECU = Engine Control Unit. No ECU no driving. Good car alarm But what you wanna reset is the TCU = Transmission Control Unit. And I doubt that MB eliminated it in 2008

So I don't want to follow these steps to reset my ECU? How do I reset my TCU, if that's what you're suggesting?

I just followed the key/gas pedal instructions. I'm not sure if this is the way to go in an newer one like yours though. I think many just mix up the abbreviations and that's why they called it ECU and not TCU!

Years after discovering this we have come to realize that all she does is reset the transmission adaptations.

Unless you drive on Laguna Seca daily, the car sets you up in granny tranny settings in normal traffic stop and go. Sneaky ECU resets those tranny settings and thus the car feels better.

Never heard of it causing a CEL light.

Maybe just weird coincidence.

Have an auto zone or someone with scanner run the code.

Check engine problem...

When they pull it up on the computer it's stating it's a secondary Air injection problem??

Not related to the trans reset. Total coincidence.

+1 The secondary air injection problem has nothing to do with the reset. It is something that has affected all 55k engines and in fact there is a very controversial recall for it if you search this section of the forum

For the E63 people here, any way to reset the ECU/TCU just by pulling a fuse (so we do not have to re-set all the other electronics), if so what fuse that will that be ?

I've found that resetting the battery overnight produces better results

True but some guys have lots of settings entered into the car (phone, seats, radio) and don't wanna re-enter everything.

Battery reset always trumps sneaky ECU (which is really tranny adapts reset)
