Thanks everyone!! I am so happy that you guys like it! The airbox has entered production and they will give me a production schedule in the next few days.

We are actively working on the tubes now. I have asked for preliminary pricing on those pieces and will provide it as soon as I get it.

-------------------------------------------
I am looking at some 996 and 997 stuff right now. Was going to make a CF box similar to the V-Flow but we've changed the design.

Yeah.. I agree.. A set of red intake manifolds would look nice there..

Has anyone came up with a good solution to limit the heat intake thru the bottom boxes? I want to start working on something to help insulate and was just wondering if someone has already came up with the solution.

Thanks!!

Absolutely awsome box

I have a few questions.
What kind of power increase do you think this will add to HP and TQ?
Will this carbon fiber airbox be able to fit in a kleemann or HPS Supercharged 500 motor as well? If so, I need to have one as well!
And do the ECU's have to be reprogrammed?

Thanks

I'm going to send you guys some emails over the weekend..

I'll have a delivery schedule soon.

-----------------------------------------------------------
Thanks!

Unforunately it wont work with your HPS system or the kleemann S/C.. Totally different configurations there.. Sorry.

For the rest of the guys, there is no ECU retuning necessary. The ECU has enough lee-way to compensate for the extra airflow. Although, the majority benefit might not be realized until we replace the air intake tubes with my own CF versions which will be bigger and smoother.

Jimmy - We'll be think'n of you in Nairobi. Give me feedback once you get the car. Curious if the EVO cooler upgrade will actually give you back some Hp, or simply "prevent" Heatsoak? My next time into C2D will probably be late Feb. List of possible "tweaks":

Bigger Pulley
Custom "Charge" Cooler
VRUS airbox installed (Hope it's here by then)
Larger Air intakes (Investigating)
Modified Exhaust (CHIROMIKEY has me think'n??)

........................Will it ever end???

If any one of you guys dont need your stock intake sytems after the project is completed, let me know. I would like to buy one and see if the stock amg airbox will help my HPS system breath a better, or at least make it look alittle better.

Good luck to all of you and keep the pioneering coming. Every site is talking about you e55 guys. You have all helped so many other mercedes owners reach new frontiers.

Too early to know.. We are looking at both 996 and 997 to determine which product we are going to tackle first.. I was going to move ahead with a V-Flow type airbox for the 996TT but with all the issues with MAFs I decided to put a halt on it until I could sovle the non-laminar airflow issues. I've found a design that works, but we havent committed to making it yet.

I am going to talk to some of my Porsche buddies on 6speed and see what interests them more. Once I've got some more concrete info I'll let you know.

Nope. It was tested for airflow and volume on a bench only. I'll have some hard data to share in the next few days. The engineer told me that even if I put it on the dyno I wouldnt be guaranteed to see any significant results because the car is stationary and most times you need to have movement in order to see HP increases. He told me to run it down the 1/4mile and I would see a MPH and ET improvement.

VRUS: can you start a roll call for those of us that have paid? Do we get any priority in order of getting them if we paid first, or do you plan to distribute based on other factors?

This is going to be a great 6 months, since the car will be getting all setup!

Hey Jangy,

I am still trying to work out how to do this fairly for everyone.. Right now I am hoping to follow the original R&D buy-in order. BUT.. that really depends on the guys from the CF company too. They are making the rubber insert adapters that are required for my 80mm TB kit (Gen I) so getting the guys with stock TB might be first batch. I'll just put my custom foam filters in there and ship them back out. There wont be any huge gaps in production at this point.

I've paid for all 34 airboxes in full already when I gave the go-ahead to commence production so as they come off the line they'll be gathered into a batch and sent to me.

I'd love to do one for every car.. Its my CF guys and the airflow engineers that are too busy with work to keep up with me.. LOL..

I've got designs for an airbox for an F430, Gallardo, 996TT, and a bunch of other cars..

The CF guys just look at the market and will do what the market demands first... If you can gather a group of C32 guys together that are willing to purchase one, I would basically take the V8 one I just built and scale it down to bolt onto a C32. Since the engines are exactly the same minus 2 cylinders, all the R&D that went into this one would work for the C32..

Do you know the inlet size of the C32 TB ? Is it the same as the E55 ?

Not sure what you mean. I paid my $200 to get in last year, and I paid another $1600 today. Is that a deposit?

Vrus, I’ve been reading this post from the start and think this is great what you have done. You’re also looking at other cars to help with their mods I have a W210 E55 so this doesn’t fit, but I love when others help others to find more HP with better designs like your doing, keep it up! And the best part lower cost to the end user

PS I love the look of this CF Airbox
