As the rpm's go up at WOT you want the car to run richer for power, and reliability. Ignition timing also comes into play here. Basically you have to look at the whole A/F ratio curve, whp, timing, rpm's,and listen of watch for knock when you r tuning but the trend is for the car to run richer as the rpm's climb at W.O.T.
I know what is ideal for cars but typically if you run lean = more power, rich = less power but safer.

Well I guess generally speaking depending on where in the rpm range at WOT.

Some places in the rpm band at WOT you may have to add fuel to pick some pwr. That's what my car needed with the cams since it was down on power. PTE had to ask Kleeman to add fuel to his car to when he first got his ECU done by Kleeman. Car was running too lean and he could feel it.
When he got the ECU back from Kleemann and dynoed the car,he could see they added fuel and the car picked up some nice pwr all around.

So alot of times it depends.

curious to those with the vrp cams . will the car still idle like stock or will it be like some muscle cars i see that almost shake or vibrate when they have large cams installed. does it lose any drivability? thanks in advance, Neveo

It shakes a bit feels funny at first like something is wrong but you get used to it. Adam raised the Idel to smooth it out alot and I belive Vadim is or did something in the ECU also.

Neveo,

The car shakes just a bit..

Here is a video JakPro put together: http://www.radioandtv.cc/audio/CamLope.wmv

This smoothens out a bit after 150-200miles... But it does sound mean!!

I went to the track yesterday and dyno'd the car friday as baseline numbers pre cams. I started the cam install today and should be done either tomorrow or thursday. Plan on getting new track numbers and dyno numbers friday. This should help shed some light on the VRP cams. I have a Kleemann sc CLK55 so it may not correlate to power gains on the E55 but hey, at least I'm sharing the info

Drives Slowly
If they make great power, I will be very happy for you.

On the other hand, I will also be upset because I made a foolish decision.

Thats awesome. I think you will be the first non-E55K car to have the VRP cams. Good luck and I hope for good power and a lumpy idle.

Looking forward to the results. If the A/F stay inline you are homefree.

Post a pic of the before pull.. I'd like to see what your AFR look like.

Can't wait for you feel the lump!!!

Cams are completely unlike ANY cam out there right now.

I am officially a lumpaholic!!

Love mine rocking back and forth at redlights now.

Again, NOT saying it lumps like this!!!

Thanks guys! Had to buy some more stuff today to finish the job but should be done tonight or tomorrow. I just wrench on it for a couple hours after work. Funktion Auto wanted 850ish for the install, LMAO!

Rock- Thanks bro! I'm so excited.

Victor- The car ran really rich for some reason the last time I dyno'd. I dunno if the tailpipe sniffer they used is broken or what. I have a innovate wideband going in (first one broke and I waited almost 7 months for them to replace it!). I dont have the graph with me but I also have previous pulls that I can use to compare with good af readouts (all on the same dyno and same gear; they did one 4th gear pull and got scared and said it goes too fast in 4th so they only did 3rd gear pulls after that). Anyways, while taking the car apart I noticed that there was a big crack in the big breather hose that goes from the valve cover back to the tb. Dunno if that would hinder performance but it was pretty badly cracked. Needless to say its getting replaced. I'm more interested in track times/numbers than dynos. Just did the dynos for other peoples interest. Also putting fresh plugs in today.

How many miles do I have to put on the car before I can run it at the track? I am literally going from work to the track and then my friends shop at night to dyno on friday.

Jim- I really dont want it to lump too much. I dont want a girl to think my car is breaking down when she gets in it lol. Just enough to make her happy if ya know what I mean Hoping the MAF instead of MAP will help a lil with the idle

Here is a vid of a pass at the track (My next pass was 11.60 @ 120.25). It was HOTTT with a DA of ~2400 or more. The bike goes first and then it's my car. http://s76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...t=03cdf836.flv

Thanks bro , still has stock secondary cats and resonator. I think it will get too loud if I delete the resonator. Cant wait to hear the sound with the cams!!!

I would think a large crack in the PCV hose would cause a vacuum leak as it's connected to the TB. I could be way off though.

My friend got the wrong cam bridge bolts . As long as I can source them tomorrow, the car will be up and running tomorrow night! Cams are in but the bridge needs to be bolted down with new bolts (cant reuse the old ones)

Ahmad don't forget to use some assembly lube on the cams before you bolt the cam bridges in.

I put assembly lube on the bridge caps and oil all over the actual cams. Anywhere else I should use assembly lube?

Just tell her your name is Ahmad. That should justify her happiness! LOL

Don't forget to post some pics of the install bro.

Nope! Just plenty on the cam bearings and cam lobes. Remember that the motor needs to be reved up a certain amt of rpm's for a certain amt of time as soon as you start her up after assembly to break the cams in.

By the way are you getting th Soft ware done?

And stop dragging your feet and complete your exh. Especially now that you have the cams in and you r feeding more gas and air into the motor.

Definitely wanna get the car custom tuned.

LOL @ James! I snapped a couple pics. Was too focused to remember to take pics of the whole process, sorry bro. If you need the DIY I have the writeup and its pretty detailed with pics and everything.

theeddie- I dunno, I think its proprietary information

Carl- I put a line of assembly lube on the bridges and then evened it out with my finger. There is a thin film that covers the whole surface. Both on the heads and the cam bridge. I put fresh motor oil on the cams. Will probably drive it a bit and then do an oil change. I never heard of starting it to a certain rpm. What rpm and for how long? I sourced some cam bridge bolts and plugs and I will finish the job tonight barring any unexpected circumstances. I dont care if I have to stay up all night (I'm pretty sure it will only take a few hours to get back together) I'm gonna GET ER DONE!!! In terms of tune, gonna owrk with Cory on a custom tune. No way I'm sending my car out to Cali just for a tune. Just need to send him mustang dyno files and my ECU. Of course those results will be posted too. High or low it doesn't matter. By the way, my car doesn't make much power
