Another tire tread

Now is the time to ditch these stock Conti tires.

Have 9,000 miles on the car and the rear tires are down to the wear bars. Never raced the car and pretty much babied it around the local interstates. ***! That's retarded, going easy on the tires and they are worn out.

Anyway, are there some recommendations on the best tire around now? I've heard a lot about PS2s but really don't need such a soft tire and not worried about traction.

Thanks.

Bought my set of Bridgestone re050's from Discount Tire, the sales guy I always deal with suggested them because they come with a 30,000 mile warranty. I have already used the warranty once with just 10,000 miles on the rears. They ride excellent, are quiet and handle well.
Good luck.

I like toyo t1-r but if you drive hard, expect 7K on the rears, flip them and save tread.

Here's the top performance tire according to Tire Rack's latest tests:

I've only had them on my car for a couple of weeks now, but am very happy with them. Very smooth and quiet, and exceptionally responsive handling.

Burn outs $19.95, I think 10K miles on the rears is about the norm. With that in mind, and the fact that we have a stagered set up I chose to go with the

The AMGs eat tires no matter what brand so it boils down to $600 or $1200
I perfer to have fresh rubber every 7K.

Try Dunlop

We have been very pleased with the Dunlop tires performance. They run quiet, are sticky and wear well, look great on 18's and are inexpensive to boot! Check them here:

My experience has been VERY positive. My wife's ML has Dunlops as well, and the tires perform great in that application as well. --Get this, right now they have a $50 discount on 4 tires or a ipod!

One of the guys at Discount told me the warranty thing on a staggered set up is usually not honored since you can't rotate the tires. They didn't give you a hard time? If so, my next set may be those Bridgestones (I just put Toyos on) and make that warranty work for me!

no mention of the PS2's even though they are expensive, I still prefer them over all those tires. The GOodyears arent THAT Much cheaper anyway.

well first and foremost my dad owns a tire company so I've been aroudn them for a while lol
1) Goodyear F1's - great grip, looks awesome - good in wet too and so on - however after about 3-5k miles they were extremely noisy and lost the great grip they offered
2) Pirelli P-zero Rosso - again, amazing grip, very short tread life - pirellis are usually like this however
3) Pirelli p-zero nero - great 'in between' tire - had them on my last car and they were great for the price - dont expect amazing grip but you will get decent life out of them
4) Michelin PS2 - cant stop talking about how amazing they are. phenomenal grip and great life too - you get what you pay for
5) Kumho MX - greattt bang for the buck tire - great grip esp for the price I would reccommend them
6) Nitto 555 - cheaper tire, decent grip - still testing the waters on tread life but it seems liek they will last a good amount - wet grip needs a lot of work
7) Dunlop SportMaxx - great combination tire - good grip wet and dry and more affordable than PS2 - i would recommend them if you don't wanna spend on the PS2's

these are all the tires I've owned in the last 4 years or so, there are many more I just cant remember

Ive never been a fan of the Toyo brand personally, but the Falkens are good for the price, esp to those who want stretch

I've got Falken 452s. They've been good for the price. Not noisey, dont tram-line, reasonable grip.

Thanks for the information. I went with the PS2s. Any tips on getting the tires installed, balanced, etc.?

Sorry to hear that, you spent too much, and get back too little with the PS2's I'm afraid to say. Good luck my friend.

Try GS-D3 for longevity, or Bridgestone 050 PP's for extra sticky next time. You won't be disapointed

See yeah

Thanks for the info, hey who's counting!

Another question, can I drive my car to Dallas from OKC and back tomorrow? The rear tires have tread but in the center they are down to the wear bars. I really want to drive it but don't want to risk a blow out. Any thoughts? Fuking Conti POS tires.......

Finally got the new PS2s on the car today. They are very nice, quiet, good grip, and the car handles much better than the stock Contis. They are the same size but seem to have a wider stance. Put them on with road force balancing for $80.00. So I am into this new set for $1,200 and change after shipping from the Tire Rack. I mentioned to my old lady that I was getting new tires and she wants me to go to a psych. Her Pilot rubber is still good from 2004. Oh well.....

Next time you come up, drop me a line and I will meet you for lunch, unless you are in the CRV.
