Since when??? The guy supposedly ran you in repeated highway pulls for 45 miles, and now he's (very conveniently) abstaining?

And my, what a happy coincidence (for you) that he just happens to have his car in the shop....man, what great timing!

So, let me guess: his computer is in the shop too?

Question

Improviz- at which point/speed does power to weight cease to be *as* important? I ask because the E60 M5, E63 and S65 have the same 280bhp/tonne power to weight ratio (source:Evo magazine) but the S65 is faster than both. I know the easy answer would be torque but the E60 M5 leaves the E63 behind on the freeway with 80lb/ft less.

Also, look at say an Elise/Exige on the hwy. They can hang with an E46 M3 from the lights but from a 60mph roll they're toast. I'm curious as this conversation is going on in the Kill section with Chiromikey, OldGixxer and myself among others.

To: theLoser....i mean the thericker,
thats right the car came out of the body shop with the z badges to cover the holes, but were replaced with ls2 badges. you posted all those messages of my zo6 "body" conversion, but never the pic i sent you.
so here's the car-
...and your right the car was sold for an actual zo6, your not as dumb as i thought. as far as my old posts, who knows what happened to them. out of your 3,500 posts i could only veiw 205.-but what would old posts about my o2 cl55 have to do with the vette? geez i thought there were some douchebags on the vette forums-you take the crown for that Rick.
as for my offer to a race, i'll change it up- anyone with a modded amg willing to run a bone stock 2006 corvette 60-160?

Mua a Douchebag? LOL lets see pic's of your Z06 Liar! Here's a pic of a real Z06 w/Z06 RED Calipers, & bigger Rotors that look like this you openly admitted Re-badging your wide-body regular C6 in your pm to me, and post a pic of it w/lame LS2 badge, and STOCK Z06 brakes? what does that prove?

Why wouldn't you post new pic's of your supposed new conveniently same year 2006 Z06???? instead of your old widebody LS2 that you never sent me, you sent me a picture of that same car w/same wheels & Z06 badging, you then blew up a close-up of an LS2 badge alone by itself not on your FAKE Z06...

And lemme guess you prolly bought the Z06 brakes by now, & will repost another picture w/Z06 badges same black exterior, same wheels, noting that you justy kept them and re-used them lol...

It does but he had a complete widebody done w/out real Z06 brakes (their Calipers are much bigger & painted RED, NOT Grey) He prolly p-chopped that badge on, as he posted pic's of this C6 before & I noticed the Z06 badging from a farther off picture, he then wrote me that PM I posted above, & showed me a pic of an LS2 badge by itself not installed on the Vette.

I seriously doubt the body-shop just had the Z06 badinjg lying around and thru it on, they could've easily slapped bondo over the holes in the front fenders, the badges don't come free w/purchase of body-kit I know cause I did the same to my reg 2005 C6 MINUS any Z06 badging, & I also only did the rear fenders, as the front would deff look to much like a Z06.

Dudes full of sh*it... I'd love to see this race he was already saying "Forget it it would be a waste of his time"

So why don't you post NEW pictures of your Z06??

IE.... 1) of the Z06 instrument cluster w/pic showing your hand holding a sign w/your signature on it, as well as another of the engine?

If I'm wrong I'll humbly apologize, but you made it very clear in your PM to me you had a re-badged FAKE Z06! I've never heard of a bodyshop just throwing on FREE badges???

Then you seemed to NEVER POST a picture of you supposed NEW Purchase?? seems to me you deff would've posted pictures? Oh but let me guess again you just bought it & it just happens to be the same color/same wheels/same 2006....Which you may of just bought REAL Z06 Calipiers/Rotors for. Hmmmm....

Why can't you just step out into the garage and snap a few pic's ??

You also previously wrote you couldn't afford to have both your FAKE CL55 & C6 widebody, that you would need to SELL THEM BOTH IN ORDER TO PURCHASE A REAL Z06 or CL65...

But you seem to still have your CL?? I'm waiting for pic's guy

Oh I've got a great idea I'll re-badge it to a Z06 till I can get some lame LS2 badges off Ebay lol...

You never mentioned you had a GM dealership do your widebody? everyone knowsd they are horrible at bodywork, & charge way more than a decent bodyshop.

Did they twist your arm and make you install the Z06 badging? too bad they weren't feeling generous and thrown the Z06 engine in there too.

Where's your New Z06 PICTURES?

wow, you are a moron!
i could take pics of my z in the garage with sigs, title in hand, whatever you want-but your reply would be that "he just borrowed that car". no they actually threw in the badges for an extra $45. Never said i could not afford my 02 cl55 & 06 c6(i already have), i said i could not afford both a c6 zo6 & cl65. as for posting a picture of my new vette, why would i- this is a mb forum.
what is a rebadged fake zo6? i never told people it was a z. you have zo6 body panels, so i guess you have a non-badged fake zo6-right?
here is one pic i'm sure your vette and ttsl600 & you are very familar with.

Because you did post these pic's minus the LS2 badge a few months ago on this forum, that's when I saw your FAKE Z06 BADGES & called you out...

Also the only way to prove you're not lying is to post some pic's of your NEW dreamland Z06.

Ahh geez you're really a bad liar, here's lie #2....

Where are those other pictures?? you are despretley trying to wriggle out of this one, pathetic exuses on not posting other Z06 pictures instead you only give us another picture of your obvious WIDEBODY FAKE Z06, because you don't want us to see ...

You post a picture of an IDENTICAL black widebody C6's REAR-END ONLY lol.. so we can't see your old regular puny BASIC GREY CALIPERS, what your emplying is your NEW Z06

Ricker and 02CL55 take it off line to a PM or something. This thread is not about questioning if one is posing or not and especially about a non E55 or Benz for that matter.

It would be a shame that I have to close this (finally!!) for something that has nothing to do with the post.

Oops, sorry, my bad.

Wrt the xx65 examples, I don't know how those things are up into triple digits off the top of my head...I'd have to go back and look at the numbers. But I do recall from dyno #'s that those things are pretty underrated hp-wise; I think I saw one with something like 560 rwhp with rated crank of 604, which would translate to a 7% driveline loss, which ain't happening, which means they're making lots more than 604.

Wrt your Exige example, I'll need to explain using a bit of Physics (sorry!!).

You've probably heard the equation force = mass*acceleration bounced around here at various times; here's a quick example of how this works. Using Algebra 101 if we solve for acceleration, we get acceleration = force/mass.

Mass is in kg, force is in N (Newtons, in honor of the guy who came up w/force = mass*acceleration).

The thing is, though, that force isn't simply engine power (or actually, wheel power). There are other factors at work, and the key one here is drag force, which is the force of the aerodynamic drag on the vehicle as speeds increase.

This force is basically a vehicle-dependent constant times the square of the speed of the vehicle, meaning that as speed increases, drag force increases at a rate of speed*speed. So, 10 gives you 100, 100 gives you 10000, 120 gives you 14400, etc...

So a quick example, let's suppose we have two vehicles that are otherwise identical in every way, except for two factors: mass and force. Let's say that Vehicle A produces 2000N of force and weighs 1000kg, and that Vehicle B produces 4000N of force and weighs 2000kg. And let's further suppose that these vehicles' drag force is 800N at 100 mph (actually representative of a smaller car).

I'm also going to ignore 2nd order effects like rolling resistance (which will hurt the heavier car more than the lighter one, but not enough to overcome the 2x power advantage in this example at higher speeds; it will defininitely make a difference when power is closer, though!).

Let's also assume that these vehicles produce this force all through their operational range, which is ridiculous but makes the math easier for moi (in reality, it will decrease as speeds rise due to gearing, but since these vehicles are identical it would decrease by the same, so this won't affect the outcome of the results and will save me some work! ).

So, at 0 mph there is 0N of drag force, so net force = (Vehicle force in N) - 0N = Vehicle force in N. Acceleration for both vehicles will be the same:
Acceleration of Vehicle A = 2000N/1000kg = 2m/s^2
Acceleration of Vehicle B = 4000N/2000kg = 2m/s^2

At 100 mph, though, since drag force is now a real factor, the net force on the vehicle changes as you must subtract the drag force from the vehicle force to get net force:
Net Force (Vehicle A) = 2000N-800N = 1200N
Net Force (Vehicle B) = 4000N-800N = 3200N

So, you can see what happens wrt acceleration when we divide net force by mass:
Acceleration of Vehicle A = 1200N/1000kg = 1.2m/s^2
Acceleration of Vehicle B = 3200N/2000kg = 1.6m/s^2

As you can see, the second vehicle is now acclerating at a 33% faster rate, due to lower net force on the first one.

So that's what happens to the Exige. Its p/w (force/mass using different units) is the same, but the net force is smaller. and as speeds increase it suffers more than the other car.

Hope this helps to clear up the Exige mystery!

You might make some new friends doing this. I feel like I just wasted 30 minutes of my time reading this.

I feel like I should have at least gotten a T-Shirt!

Dunno how Jangy keeps this up...I'd have given up pages ago and told everyone to F themselves.

Ahh, an owner willing to race!! That is what I want to see...

What are you doing this weekend (May 31st, June 1st)? I am in Grand Blanc, MI. Where are you located exactly? I am willing to meet half way and make some recorded runs. I would rather do it on the track, but, since this original race originated from a roll, I would like to duplicate it and therefore, go from a roll. I will be on street tires so it would be great if you can be on the same.

I will have a passenger with me so if you could have one also to make things fair, that would be great. What do you say?

50/55/60 - xxx mph is OK with me. Let me know your schedule and lets do this!!...

EDIT:

Naperville, IL is about 310 miles away from Grand Blanc (City I live in). So, if you are willing to drive 150 miles (apprx. half way), I will be more than willing to drive the other 150 miles to meet up. Let me know.

Right, I'll need to give this a few reads once I get away from work but thanks greatly for the response.
