Run in with F-Car

It was late friday night on the 60freeway near Rowland Heights, CA. I was cruising home about 75mph, just trying to conserve a little gas haha, then in my rearview mirrow I see these bright blue HID's right behind me. It pulls up next to me in the far left lane and I see that it is an F430, his passenger rolls the window down and stares right at me and starts waving his arms in a "Let's go" motion. I was a little nervous to run him, since it was my first go with a f-car, but I said what the heck...I went for it. I rolled my window down and gave the driver the okay..switched from C mode to M mode...downshifted to 3rd at about 70mph...on the 3rd honk FLOOORRED it....to my surprise I was side by side with him up until 130-135mph couldnt really see where it was exactly haha gotta keep my eyes on the road...but after he switched gears and that's all she wrote...he sounded awesome though as he sped away at about 150-160mph. As soon as I exited called my cousin with a p-car, he laughed and said it wouldnt have stood a chance against 911 Turbo haha. I went to sleep happy.

Nice! What color was it?
I haven't had the chance to run one yet. Maybe one day...

Oh BTW,
Next time, switch to S mode and let it rip.

Ive actually had 2 run ins with f430's they ARE NOT like the older ferraris, this newer engine has some serious grunt. Nice write up, youll get them after some mods....

e55jay's right, after a few bolt-ons it's a different story! after giving him the head start, i put 3 car lengths on one from 70-150 before my last round of mods.

I've had my 55 for a while now, didn't ever think that I would need more power than it already has...but after that experience with the F-car....I think I may need to reconsider. Renntech pulley and ecu tune?

It was a Red F430 coupe, also sounded like he had aftermarket exhaust installed...that car sounded mean... the driver was also pretty young he looked like he was in his late 20's- early30's.

r/t if you want the name but asp pulley and powerchip or let tune at half the price will give better results. that should put you right with a 430 at higher speeds. add anything else like a tb and it's over for a stock 430.

I agree, you should have been in s mode and then changed to 3rd gear. Why risk the gear change when you gain nothing? I love it when we tease the BIG guys.

Likely stock, they're very loud. I ran one from 80-140mph on the 210 a couple of months back. We ran neck and neck. They're a lot faster than their predecessor the F360 which truly is a slug for all the noise it makes.

I find the story hard to believe...

The F430 runs pretty close with a C6 Z06. A C6 Z06 leaves the E55 in the dust over 100. So, this don't add-up.

Also, 3rd gear at 70? Not sure about your cars (sarcastic) but mine pulls like a freight train in 2nd gear up to 86 or 87 mph prior to the 2-3 shift. That is where I would have started.

Nice story. I just don't buy it.

Yeeeaaahhhh

Thanks for sharing.
My mate drives a 430 spyder. My 55 is stock as a rock. We have had several runs to crazy speeds and honestly there is not much in it at all. My mate calls my car "The Wolf" as in wolf in sheeps clothing. Thats exactly what the E55 is

sounds like a blast but now its time to make that beast of yours eat up the pavement with some nice stage 1 and maybe even stage 2 mods. i had the renntech stage 1 on my 430 its not worth the money if you ask me. but hey if you like it its your money.

Are you implying "even" to "crazy speeds" with a 480 HP F430 Spyder?

I buy it up to about 100, then I have a tough time believing it is possible.

Here is a "dice" with a Kelleners M5 and a F430 and we all know the stock M5 is a gong-show over 120 MPH - the Kelleners is even faster...

Where am I off-base?

Im talking speeds around the 200kph mark.(120mph) I know the F car is slightly quicker. Put us on a track an its all over rover. But on long Hwy blasts when brains and ***** and ability often decide the outcome. Im not saying the 55 is faster but it can certainly hold its head high (until supercharger shut off )

That was good - that was real good - my friend .

We are all on the same page here...

Knowing how the E runs with C6 Z06's, Gallardo's, and 500 hp vipers my comments are well in line. Up to 1XX range it is really close (although you can definitely tell the aforementioned cars are "faster") and one would be hard pressed to convince me a F430 is any different of a story.

I am going to miss my E. My lease is up in a few weeks .

12.13 stock at about 114. I may end-up at the strip next weekend for one last "roll"...
