Jesus guys, this has really gotten out of control. Give it a rest already and lets see if MHP can deliver. Until then, I'm outta here - way too much ego in this thread for me....

Due to time constaints and the fact we had 3 customers waiting to hit the rollers we didn't have time to do a dyno pull overlayed with A/F data, however the FAST DB is in (as are the Thermalnators) and I do have data from pulls made on the street--deserted industrial park so no worries. This is with both stock ECU/TCU, I'll post dyno graphs from the same DJ pre/post ECU/TCU tune by Friday and am still shooting to hit the track with both tuned control units on Friday night (weather depending).

idle to 2800rpm- 13.0-13.1:1

2800-6800rpm- 12.4-12.6:1

6800+ rpm- 11.8-11.9:1

Overall I'm fairly impressed with the stock A/F ratio. The meat of the band is right on par with where it should be, though our ECU tunes do correct for the relatively minor deficiencies we're seeing in the low/high end--we don't want the extra fuel up top and we don't want the bottom end as lean as it is either.

While we had the car on the lift I snapped some shots of the OEM exhaust. It's not bad for a stock exhaust but there is definitely room for improvement. I was quite shocked to see the "clearancing" job that MB did around the front of the differential. It's the type of thing that you'd typically see from Jed's exhaust shop, rather disappointing to say the least. IMO there is room for a full 3" exhaust from the headers back with a true X crossover. This is our next mod.

The passenger's side dent is significantly larger/deeper than the driver's side:

Driver's side indentation:

Stay tuned race fans, it's going to be an exciting week.

Thanks
Andy

Any chance of answering my question? I was the first post so I understand if it got overlooked in all the limp wristed E slap talk. I like everyone here. I also understand if you don't want to share the info on the actual material used in terms of reproduction.

racetested, gravedgr, JT55, and TUNINGTECH I look forward to working with all of you in the future. Despite some of the negative commentary in this thread I'm pleased to say that I've met some genuinely talented and passionate people in the MB game because of it. It's nice to know that there are some true gearheads out there!

Thanks!
Andy

Sorry I missed your initial post. I'll send you the info via PM as I'd rather not post that info in public.

Thanks

Andy,

Norwalk on Friday? Need an E55 next to you for comparison?

Dragway 42 would also work.

Hell yes! I didn't know you were local. Shoot me a PM. I think at least one Jeep SRT8 (with 175 shot) will be rolling up with me. Another friend of mine with a E63 with 125 shot may also attend.

Thanks
Andy

I think my good buddy (Chuck W.) installed the 125 shot for your friend.

We need to talk.

Rock,
I just called NRP to verify this Friday's T&T and they are not having it due to there being a Chrysler/Mopar shootout this weekend.

They are back on schedule next week, but I don't want to wait that long...Thinking 42 now...

you should go anyways and force your way in since the vin tags say "daimler-chrysler".

You as well! That's the new plan, 42 on Friday. Now keep your fingers crossed for cooperative weather, I'll call again on Thurs to verify.

Andy,

Before I say anything, I just want to be clear that I am only making this post to make sure misinformation is not being spread and am not trying to bash or cause trouble.

I've done a lot of work with 722.6 transmissions and have been researching the 722.9 transmissions for a while now also. We currently offer fully reinforced and reworked 722.6 transmissions and I am in the process of testing and building a 722.9 counterpart (I am saying this so you understand that I am not talking out of my a$$).

From my research I just don't understand how you are saying you are reprogramming the TCU on a 722.9 car (ie. C63 or CLK63 BS), let alone doing it on a bench?? The TCU/EGS unit on the 722.9 is INSIDE the valvebody of the transmission. It takes 15hrs or so to get the tranny out, dismantle it, and then be able to reach the TCU on those cars.

On the 722.6 based cars the TCU is external and is easily programmable but my understanding on the 722.9 is that it is not.

Also, from all the research I've done, bench programming of the TCU on a 722.9 is not possible. You need the physical car there to make it work.

Did I misunderstand what you wrote about the TCU on the 63 cars or did you make a mistake in stating what you were actually reprogramming?

I just want to clear up the confusion and either make sure I didn't misspeak or that you didn't.

He already stated that the TCU was inside the trans on the 722.9

So you don't outsource your trans builds? You do them in house???

lol.. No.. I am not a trans builder.. The guy that does our stuff also builds them for Ben Sulayem in Dubai.

I meant that I have spent a lot of time researching trannies in these cars and trying different things with them.

I must have missed the post where Andy said the TCU was inside the tranny.

When I saw the post about being able to send in your TCU for programming it threw me for a loop because my understanding is that you cannot bench program them and its many hours to re/re that control unit.

NP, please take my reply in turn.

As was posted earlier (somewhere lol) we realize that the TCU is in the valvebody of the trans, however that has zero effect on our ability to flash it or any other TCU. I've had 3 preliminary flash calibrations in my own car so I can tell you for a fact that we can and have flashed the 722.9 TCU just like any other. It's also not a 15hr job to R&R.

Also, from all the research I've done, bench programming of the TCU on a 722.9 is not possible. You need the physical car there to make it work.
Incorrect, we need a VIN coded ECU to flash but not TCU, we can order a spare, flash it and send it to the owner for install. We do not need the vehicle.

Did I misunderstand what you wrote about the TCU on the 63 cars or did you make a mistake in stating what you were actually reprogramming?

I just want to clear up the confusion and either make sure I didn't misspeak or that you didn't.
Like I said before, we're the only ones that seem to have the ability to do this and we don't use chips. It does however take a good amount of time to actually reflash the modules themselves.

Thanks
Andy

To expound a bit more, we will in the future be distributing our ECU/TCU reflashes through a select group of businesses, though we won't be selling/licensing out the actual hardware we use.

Thanks
