Andy,
Can you help explain how the TCU makes power? I assume you are talking about the potential that is not tapped due to TQ management, but want to clarify. Next thing is how does the TCU limit? Does it tell the ECU to retard timing or close the TB some? I have only recently seen an ECU mod that keeps the throttle wide open all the way to the shift points and it really helped top end.
Would you expect the TCU gains to be more top end or dig?

Yes there is at least as much if not more tq management in the tcu than there is in a ecu. I can't post any more info than that at this time as again I'm not here to educate the competition.
TCU gains will really shine on the street and at the track.

I'm kinda lost here.. so no HP/TQ improvements are posted, no dyno results, nothing real world.. just talk, and price? Seems like a lot of posting to not have any results.

No offense to you and I wish any new vendor luck, but it only took them a short time to do it and they have 20 years experience doing it, and it was cheaper. Renntech is already doing this guys! Oh, and they did it all in house! LOL I think the cost is the issue here?

Back on topic:

Andy,
I don't know much about the inner workings of our transmissions but I'm wondering about the Comfort and Sport mode. I know I have read on these forums that the comfort mode shifts slower, although I'm not sure this is true.

Is it possible with your TCU modifications to keep the comfort mode as it is and to have the sport mode modified?

They may have pulled some tq management from your ECU but I'd have to see it in person to believe they did anything with your TCU. Our turnaround time is as quick as anyones unless you're talking stage II tuning, though I know they can't touch the number of variables we can in our stage I.

Yes it is. Marko specified something very similar (custom shifting for each mode) and will report back as soon as we finish his TCU up. That would be considered stage II tuning btw, we'll have an easy 40hrs in Marko's TCU alone.

No, they're not LOL. Renntech cannot change converter lock up speed, enable the aforementioned rev matched downshifts, can't remove as much tq management as we can, can't change shifting in one mode independantly of others, nor marry the ECU/TCU, etc.

Sorry but removing some tq management and bumping shift points (how much did they even change yours) is not complete driveline much less TCU tuning.

All our tuning is done "in house" as well.

Hartmut and Cory have been working with the TCU's for years. I believe I know what they did but I will confirm it tomorrow and let you know. RENNTech has two full time guys that just write custom software. When I told Hartmut about my shifting issue he hadn't heard that many complaints about it from the 211 crowd. He had been fixing it on other models for years. My biggest complaint when I sent the car to Renntech was the crappy shift points when racing. I was very unhappy with the shift points with just my PC ECU upgrade. Using the paddles became pointless in a race. It's a whole different car now with aggressive, smooth shifting. I also did a tranny upgrade. Not sure my car is similar LOL, but I would meet you guys at MIR if it were closer.

It's always nice to see someone try something new. Best of luck to you.
