Live in Person SL65 BS
Sorry, but for $304k it just didn't knock me out. It's definitely better looking than McLaren MB. Nice cf trim on the chin spoiler and rear end but the pistons on the retractable rear spoiler are painted black ... I think the chromed pistons on the 911TT look better.
The wheels are really nice, not sure what they weigh but they must be lighter than the CLK Black.
The seats look like someone studied at Ferrari and came up with an MB version.
Nice cf inside too but not a radical enough departure form the normal SL interior.
I bet it sound fantastic and looks great on the move but I'm not feelin' it.(That's okay though, I'm not a potential buyer, so MB shouldn't care.)
.
Am I milking that for all it's worth? Sure am!

IMO, the type of person buying a SL65 BS is going to be someone who owns a bunch of other cars and is just adding this one to their collection. Price is most likely not a deciding factor as to whether or not it will be going home with them.

I agree that the car is way overpriced. I was told that the buyer spent 50K over sticker to get the specific car. He traded in his 2008 CLK BS also red with only 3800 miles for this car. i was surprised that the dealership was asking only $89K for his CLK BS, I thought that was cheap.
Anyway, the car is crazy and expensive. I guess if I was to spend $350K I would get a Gallardo LP-560, take the remaining $100K and buy a badass daily driver of some kind.

But I have to agree on the price, they want way too much, its an amazing car, but its not worth that kind of money. Will be interesting to see how they hold value, or not, lol. I wonder if they will continue the 65 stigma, although with this price and limited production, maybe not.

I'd buy a 599 GTB with 4k miles and pocket the extra.

I was there Saturday (Sched D service) and they have a White SL65 BS *AND* and a silver SLR in the showroom - and no ropes round em
I was tempted.... but my Platinum Amex was declined...
I can't agree more. When $350K is the money you have to play with anything goes, Ferrari, Lambo, Saleen, Spyker, SSR and so on. It just seems tough to justify that kind of money on a great car but not spectacular at anything. I don't doubt that if I had the opportunity to have one I would scream like a giddy school girl for a month.
