Anyone almost hit a deer? WHOA!
Last night out in the boonies in Mexico I am out talking to VRUS and messing around with the car. Up to 80..90...100...nearing around 120 and WHOOSH right past the right front fender flashed a deer (it was dark so it was very fast). Must have missed it by about 12 inches. Knowing that they travel in herds, I jammed the brakes and waited for heart to come down from 200bpm.
Must have scared them off so home I went thankful that I didn't have one sitting in the passenger seat on the way home.

Almost hit a deer? I actually hit a deer on a motorcycle when I was 18. The bike was brand new, one day old. I was driving home at dusk at about 40 mph and then all of a sudden the deer was in front of me I had about 1 second to think and try an evaisive manuver and then BAM! Believe it or not I never dropped the bike (luck, not skill), but it shattered every piece of plastic fairing on the bike, bent the front forks and the deer ran about 5 feet and died. I escaped without a scratch. When I had it brought into the dealership they all had a puzzled look on their faces, lots of broken and shattered fairing, but no road rash. The insurance company actually totaled the bike and it had less than 100 miles on it.
Glad your story had a much happier ending

damn
at 120mph?? It is scary enough at around 40 ... We have deer all over the place and I must get a close call every couple years at least.
Glad to hear you didn't hit it!

Glad to hear you don't need new seatcovers, Jim.....
I got HIT by a deer last year. The thing jumped into the side of the car, bounced, and continued trotting away like nothing happened.

Oh yeah..... I remember that thread.... everytime I see this picture, I'm amazed at how the deer launched through that tiny grill and ended up where the engine is without major damage to the bumper or even engine cover

How's the car running?
Installed trunk mount intercooler res and that is helping a lot with heat.
Most likely next mod is full exhaust. Can't believe I haven't opened it up a long time ago. Besides long tubes, she's stock going back.
Literally choking my poor baby.

A problem here in Scotland as there's a lot of woodland, they cut around in pairs and are habitual in respect of where they cross roads etc, so worth a watch if travelling the same routes regularly. It'll destroy your ride if you hit one, on the upside there's nothing like a venison sausage with a bit ketchup.

I had 4 deer try to assassinate me in my Audi, they spread out on the road!
I couldn't stop in time, but I tried, all 4 of em spread out damn near evenly across the road, but not in a line, some closer, some further. So I swerved to the left, in the oncoming lane (back roads, no one around) and drifted between them with no room to spare, I couldn't believe I didn't hit one. It was totally some James bond ****! I am not sure I could have made that line w/o AWD. A picture would better explain, but I couldn't fit straight on, had to make it because they wear staggered.

I had the same thing happen to me, in a neighborhood by a lake about 30mph..... only I had a girl with me who broke her collarbone (I was fine.....)
Bike wasn't too bad....
Took a roadtrip a few weeks ago and nothing makes me as nervous as deer......
