Can I Replace My Tires With A Larger Size?
My 05 E55 needs new shoes. After a lot of research I've decided to buy Michelin Pilot Sport A/S all season tires. They appear to be the best combination for daily driving here in NVA. Instead of the OEM size can I get away with 255/35/18's in the front and 275/35/18's in the rear? I've searched the archives and can't seem to find a qualified yes or no based upon actual driving experience e.g. rubbing, speedo error, etc. I don't have TPMS so that should not be a factor. Tire Rack and my independent dealer both recommend OEM sizes. Your thoughts please.

Real Cars
4ocious,
I would reconsider putting all-season tires year round on a car like the 55... even the best all-seasons in my experience are really quite poor in the snow (especially if you experience ANY accumulation) and dismal when pushed hard in the summer (cornering, launching, any aggressive driving really). You and your car would be better served by putting a set of summers on your OEM wheels, and pricing out a snow tire setup (or all-season setup, if winters aren't necessary) for the winter months.
Just my $.02

i have 255/35/18's in the front. the lower profile of the sidewall really makes the rims stand out. the only draw back is that the speedo reads higher by 3 miles than you are actually going.

You can fit those sizes BUT may or may not like the ride. It will be more bubbly. The rear may be fine since you prefer traction to lateral prowess, but the front will dive more. Keep in mind the front is only an 8" rim.

Getting Closer to an Answer
So, if I'm reading this thread correctly I can use 275's in the rear without any problems and I should stick with 245/40/18's in front? Switching from 265's to 275's will give me approximately 4/10 of an inch increase in width which may or may not be noticeable, and the ride should remain about the same. Is this correct?

Are the Pilot Sport A/S a MBZ approved tire? I heard that they may not be?????
If your a warranty freak you may want to check into it.
