Speedo Swap?
Whats up guys? Down at my shop Star Motoring in Englewood there is a white 211 E55 thats been there for a while now getting work done. Hes got BBS LMs (I believe) oem CF interior suede inserts I thought he might be lurking around here. He was currently getting euro side mirrors and a speedo swap.

A speedo swap?? Wait a sec, I didn't know MB speedos were interchangable plug and play? Well, according to this owner and my guys at the shop the newer black CLS AMG gauge cluster can replace the W211 E55 gauge cluster. Were you guys aware of this? If anyone is, are there any other speedos that are plug and play, maybe the W209? Looks very similar to the W211's so I'm curious.

Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much guys.

Search is your friend as the swap has been discussed at length many times. The CLS cluster appears to be the unit of choice as IIRC, reprogramming the milage requires an eprom and MBNL has them available to make the swap possible.

Yes, search on speedo swap, etc and look through some of the many threads. You can also ping Steve (MBNL) as he knows all on this subject.

...I am still wondering whether they (in NJ) actually know how to programm the IC...

as for CLS63 ICs in W211s...I have done 10+ of those swaps so far...in 211s from 2002 till 2007

W209 IC's won't work in a W211...W211 & W219 IC's will
