OK ... what's the deal with "SPRINT BOOSTERS"

This is like a running forum joke ... right?

Kind of like black cars being faster? Or enabling the flux capacitor on the command unit with the secret AMG logo?

Don't tell me there really is a sprint booster for the electronic accelerator pedal.

If it's not ... where can I get one?

It's a real product. It doesn't add any power, though. It basically makes the accelerator pedal less linear so that the engine moves further into the power band with less foot travel. Some people really swear by it. Others, not so much.

No kidding? ... I suppose you could always just move your seat a little closer.

It manipulates the throttle position sensor mapping for the car....so same pedal travel = more actual throttle input.

Same thing as the Sport button in my M3. I actually find it rather annoying in the M3 and never use it.

It's probably annoying in a M3 because it has a quick throttle response. Most AMG's have what feels like a huge turbo lag with part throttle acceleration. I know people say "ECU RESET RETARD!" and "JUST PUSH DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR IDIOT!" as popular responses to a positive comment regarding the Sprint Booster, but I thought it made a dramatic difference.

Whatever we're tuning!
The manipulation of the signal starts when the car is at idle meaning that the sensor is already at say, for argument sake, .25 volts when it really should only be .00 or slightly above zero so when you hit the pedal it already gets that jump when the voltage starts to increase.

More responsive...yes, more power...no but your powerband starts earlier so you should be minimally quicker.

It works. I have had it for about 1 1/2 years and I can attest to it.

Had it on my old W210 E55 and the W211 E55. It works great and makes the accelerator pedal so much more responsive.

It allows those with light feet to enjoy the TQ of the 55 engine more. It also can make the inexperienced driver look foolish going into a turn.

Not needed--- just get the ECU done and do the sneak pedal reset once a week.

It amplifies the voltage from the throttle pedal. That simple.

If you wanna try one out, I have one. You want it Pete??

It's kinda fun if you are stock or closer to stock.

Takes about 10 mins to install.

PM me if you are interested.

I'll give it to ya free long as you don't turn around a hock it on Ebay.

If you don't like it, just do me a favor and pay it forward and hand it off to another AMG brotha.

***"Why are you giving it away if it's so fun? Highly modded cars we discovered don't like all that torque dumping on the trans so quickly. We concluded car was reacting to the mountain of torque and shutting me down off the line**

So what we really need is a button under a protective shield that when pushed gives WOT if the brakes are not engaged. That would be cool for drag racing.

Pete, it's not a joke nor is it something that gives you any added "boost" or power.

Modern cars use drive by wire. The throttle is electronically controlled. Some cars have a noticeable lag because of the ETM. In fact, Volvo had a complete failure of their ETMs on some of their cars prompting a recall.

Sprint Booster modifies the signal between the pedal module and the ETM. It's give the pedal a FEEL of better response and therefore can give you a better overall driving experience.

There are NO performance changes. In many cars, drive by wire just plain sucks and Sprint Booster helps a LOT. (e.g., the V6 MBs)

The guy who invented it and sells them is Greek. It's a legit business and he has website. The module is TUV approved.
http://www.sprintboostersales.com/

Again, NO performance gains. Here's what the guy even says:

• Sprint Booster does not increase Horsepower.

• Sprint Booster does not reduce your 0-60mph times.

• Sprint Booster DOES make your car 'FEEL' faster.

• Sprint Booster is not for everyone.
