<<<<< WHATEVER HAPPENED TO ECU/TCU TUNING?>>>>
Hey Guys, what the hell ever happened to the ECU/TCU tuning that "WAS" taking place with the 63'? a while back? Remember Jcart's post and a few others? " WOW " This realLY works, the trans shifts so great bla bla bla ... "This is the best tune ever" "My car is the fastest with this tune" WTF? So was that ALL JUST A HUGE PILE OF B.S?
I would like to think that there is a software writer out there that has finally found the right "KEYS " to unlock the shifting patterns of the trans. Just thought I would throw this out there.. LOL This is NOT an OPEN BASH POST

I thought LET was actually messing with the TCU a couple of months ago, but it was (edited) different then the "TCU tune" that MHP "offered" by messing with the ECU.

63 ECU/TCU (M156 engine w/ 7 spd tranny) is a totally different ECU and TCU system than the older cars (M112, M113, etc. w/ 5 spd tranny). No idea what LET was/is working on, but I'd presume it's the latter.
M156 tuners only alter the code in the ECU box - this goes for all of them AFAIK. MHP calls theirs ECU/TCU tuning, because allegedly they can alter some shifting characteristics through ECU parameters (cannot confirm or deny this myself). I don't know if any other tuners allegedly alter the same parameters, but I'm pretty sure that (even if they do) few (if any) market it as "TCU tuning."
M112, M113, etc. tuners can alter the ECU and, with the right equipment, the TCU - which is a separate box, in the passenger-side footwell. FYI, Kleemann offers EGS/TCU tuning for all the V6/V8/V12 5 speed cars for $795.
It was discussed a bit in this thread:

Hope that clears this up a bit...

There seems to be a persistent misunderstanding of MB TCU tuning based on the platform involved.

I'm running a TCU tune for the C55 and I like it alot. I have My TCU set to the max valve (what ever that is). Only thing is my cars current power the trans was not able to keep up with the motor. This cause some slipping between shifts. After the trans valve upgrade. the car came to life and its night and day how the car drives. My lady thinks it may be a bit jerky, but i dont mind it.
C32AMG-DTM is right, tuners are able to make some adjustment to the way the 63's shift. In fact Renntech will do it for you on request. Does this constitute a TCU tune? To MHP yes, to other tuners No.

I know that there is the ability to change both the TCU and the ECU.
I also know that just changing the TCU can make the car seem significantly quicker.
Your just gonna have to trust me on this and MJ50 can confirm I know what I speak about.

So you changed your TCU or had it tuned? 63 platform? if so where and how much?

I have the renntech tcu for my 55 and love it. The shifts feel smoother and tighter over stock and I noticed it on the track. It's has a snapping feeling just like the SC kicking on, it makes me giggle when I feel it. But that's just the kid in me loving the AMG beast!

Well... HWA builds/preps the AMG race cars, right? My guess is a CLK-DTM TCU...

it is just HansWernerAufrecht ... the founder of Amg ... now sitting in the building in front of AMG playing with the Renn division company that mercedes complimented him

Old threads, old frames.... LOL
For the 63, some tranny characteristic changes are possible, but I guess the controversy is whether it should be called an TCU tune or something else.

It is possible to adjust a lot of transmission values in the ECU on the ME 9.7 in the 63's. However, It would be called a "ECU trans tune" rather than a "TCU" tune. But there are many variables that can be changed to have what would be almost identical to what a 55's TCU tune would be.

This is a timely thread rebirth for me.....
I understand that Kleemann has a TCU upgrade for my SL600. Has anyone done this upgrade on their V12TT, regardless of body? Interested in an unbiased, real world review of it.
I'm already running up against the torque limiting feature in my car. It's pointless for me to continue adding power if the TCU doesn't like it. Plus, having firmer, snappier shifts isn't exactly a bad thing for ETs.
PM me, if you wish.
