Boost Guage Install -- I did a search but my search terms never work ;)

Anyone got one ? Got a picture ?

When I had my audi I integrated a boost guage into my air vent that was great to make sure car was performing to spec.

How easy is it to do and where would you tap in ?

I have a boost port on my '05 E55 (for dyno purposes) because there is no real good place to tap unless you start disassembling things. Best is to drill/tap and put a port in a easy to reach location.

I will see if I can get a picture of it.

tap either the intercooler y-pipe or intake manifold.

or you can purchase an OBDII gauge that will read out the intake manifold pressure (boost).

Not the same car and the engine is minus 2 cylinders but this should explain where you can tap for a boost gauge. This particular tap is for a mechanical gauge. Electronic gauges use a large sending unit which would like outta place mounted like this.

yeah i think that is similar to what Marcus do on his car. i was looking for something that does not involve drilling into the car (vac tap)

you must drill. either tap the y-pipe or the manifold.

if you dont want to drill, then an OBDII gauge is what you want.

Thats pretty much how id did mine, Mine is on the out side of the intercooler with a 90 fitting so it will clear the air filter assembly. It was easy(and the car still ran afterwards) maybe a 2 hour job, Would be a good time to order phenolic spacers!!

I used an Aeroforce gauge pictured in this thread.

https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...-mercedes.html

Converts the MAP to read vacuum/boost in inHg/PSI using the barometer reading as a reference. No need to tap and run any tubing or wires.
