2004 E55 AMG

Curious as I always refer to the car as the AMG instead of Mercedes, not even sure if I have ever called it that with exception to my insurance agent when I picked up coverage.
A friend says by referring to it as an AMG instead of Mercedes is a bit elitist. I about went Guantanamo on him.
Curious what others call her.

A Prius because I'm green
I just say it's an E55, sometimes the agent will ask AMG and rarely will someone who asks mention that. Most I notice have no clue about this car or what an AMG or M is. Even without knowing they still think I'm a prude for driving a MB and even more so when they find out I have two. Not sure why it's just a comfy grocery getter!

Same here, I just say E63. Nobody knows what it is anyway. AMG=All my Money Gone.
And to say I drive a Mercedes is a bit too embarrassing for me. It carries too much connotation that I'd rather not be associated with

I just say Veronica (that's my 55's name).
But really, I just say Mercedes, nobody knows what it is if I say AMG or E55, they'll always ask, so what kind is it? Might as well get out the Mercedes, then if they get to ride in it or ask about the AMG I can show or tell them.
Besides, you knew what you were getting yourself into when you bought the car. All the "elitist" connotation that comes with it, all the snide remarks, all of it. Might as well get it out of the way by saying it's a Mercedes.

2006 E55 AMG --old cars -- E39 M5, 2.7tt Audi S4, E36 M3 **Ducati 996, 748
I do the same "E55"--- people dont know 'AMG'-- they just think it looks really nice -- no clue what it is capable of doing... Also, at times -- I will refer to it as a 'benz - E class' -- and leave it at that -- Keep it simple and move the subject along --- otherwise its like explaining how a wing produces lift to a child -- just tell the kid -- the plane goes up because it goes up.

Also, dont tell people how much it costs ---- just say its expensive because its a benz --- no need to explain AMG -- other than its a special Benz

Most people hear the word mercedes Benz and already they think its either a 350,500 or maybe a 600, anything else they have no clue it even exists, like AMG,36's-43's-32's-55's-63's-65'S Do i make any sense? so when i say i have an E55 the reply sometimes is "oh my friend has the E500 or a 550'' as if mine belongs in a lower category off course then comes all the explaining which can be irritating...My answer Depends if the individual knows about cars...E class it iss

I agree! At my age and in my profession people look at me cross eyed when they find out what kind of car I drive. When people ask, I just say a sedan. If they ask what kind I say a black one lol.

I guess to be honest I do normally just say E55 bc no one knows what it is and I don't to say Mercedes bc of the connotation. Around my friends its "the AMG" "the 'benz" or "my mistress" (even though I'm not married, but that's not the point.) Depending on my mood "the benzo" gets thrown in.
