Is my IC pump failing?
In addition, the button you mentioned, "M", sounds like the transmission mode button. There are three choices, "M" for manual shifting, "S" for sport mode, and "C" for comfort mode. If you changed your transmission mode to the comfort setting, it will start from a stand still in second gear. Naturally, this will make the car feel less responsive and more tame. So the next question would be, "how do I know which mode I am in?". If you look at the multifunction display you will see that there are letters to display which gear you have the shifter in (P,R,D, etc.) You will also notice the letters designating which transmission mode you are in, (C, S, or the actual gear #). Make sure you are back in "S", sport mode.

It is suprising what a difference it can make if you have been driving in traffic for a few days/week.

scanned my temps and my brothers and they were 172 at idle lol and would hit 200 easy with a bad pump.

as for the dealer using a cm30 its unlikely unless you have a great relationship with the mechanic.
Belt and new pump. Dealer won't install the Johnson I am pretty sure but the newer OEM pumps are supposed to be more solid. If you are paying out of pocket then by all means see if they will put the J30 in!!
Clutch pack runs about 1000-1200$ plus labor or at least used to few years ago and you'll have to fight them to change it out obviously.
You are new and didn't know so you have a free pass on this one but don't ever EVER run your car in C mode. It starts off in 2nd. Imagine dropping the clutch in 2nd on a stick. You'll just cook that tranny in a hurry if you are a hard on it at red lights. C mode meant for geez-o-matics.
Do a sneaky reset. You'll really enjoy it.
Totally harmless. Your car constantly adjusts to your driving habits so it almost always sets you up in the granny setting even if you just drive in stop and go traffic for awhile. Sneaky erases the settings and brings her back to brute violence again.
Do you think if I take it to a good indie shop that takes my warranty which I have gone to in the past would be more inclined to buy the johnson pump and install it or do they have to buy oem mercedes parts? Also, would they know anything about this clutch problem or do I have to describe it to them? thx.
