TB grind 74 to 80 Do it !!
Do this mod !! It is super damn easy--- for any TB.
less than 15min to get the TB off the car and start grinding the middle post that holds the blade.
I agree with the other tread and have little else to offer.
I cut out the middle portion of the bar on the top side, and left some of the post on the edges... I also grinded the back bar but not too much -- You need those threads for the screws. Also, grind the excess screws away.
No dyno and wont have any later -So, no concrete numbers for you guys- The streets are wet but I can feel a difference... Push and aggressiveness feels like I reset the ECU and driving on dry streets... but I did not reset the ECU and the streets are wet. So, I expect to feel more power when I have traction and the traction control is not interferring as much as with the damp roads. I can believe the ~20whp that is claimed.

I thought it was more like an hour job. and you have to crack open the supercharger to get it off. can you give details on how its done . I have done similar grinding jobs on other TBs but held up when i read you have to crack the case on the supercharger and then try and reseal. Pics would be nice.
thanks

only 4 star bolts hold the TB to the supercharger --- The black rubberish funnel that attaches to the other end of the TB is easy to remove. You just pop it off -- It has one tab on each side "2 total" -- After you take off the intake tubes -- you can take both airfilter boxes off at the same time.
It is simple - simple -- just start taking the stuff off - you will see it is brainless once you get started -- I was afraid too because I am not the best wrench turner. No problems at all.

2001: Supercharged E55 AMG
Can't really see how this would translate to a 80mm from a 74mm in diameter? Any proven dyno results on this?
That would mean that a 82mm would be a 88mm Sounds a bit odd?

its not all polished up or a finished product but you can see. the back side has been flattened out and you can see the screws appear to be much longer now... You can see in the front -- i cut out the middle section and left the edges.
As stated this is not the finished job --- i polished the backside down a lot more -- and redid the edges on the front to look less shi77y

no issues at all -- I did not bore out the diameter of the TB and i did not grind down the blade's diameter. Other members made the point that this will effect the idle -- So, i did not mess with that... I did taper the edge a bit... not too thin because i dont want it to break or bend.
The throttle is more responsive and my gas mileage has improved a little bit. Car is smoother and quicker.

I want to attempt this as well. But... not trying to bust any ***** or anything your slide looks really rough with lots of deep scratches everywhere. This will not help airflow as it has to be smooth and slippery. Give it a nice metal polish to finish it off

you are correct -- but like i said that is not the finished product that i put into my car... Good luck on your project - just do it -- you will only be sorry that you waited.

you will really feel it when you get the pulley upgrade too --- its that whole 1+1 = 3 concept... As they work together they get more power than seperately
