1. No, there was no check engine light when the car was last running, now since the car does not leave from key position 2 its impossible to tell which light is actually on since ALL are on!!

2.Yes, the car does crank but seems like the engine does not want to start.

3. Yes, the car is parked on an incline but I have filled it up with gas when AAA came and filled some up more with a buddy of mine... almost half a tank!!

I know this car is equiped with 2 fuel pumps. The right and the left. Which one would be the main one and which one should be checked? also will a fuel filter be another place to look to solve the problem?

when you purchase a new fuel pump it comes with a new sender unit as well as the two pumps.

replace the system as a whole unit as well as the relays.

How many miles on your car? If it's a decent amount, I'd honestly order a Crank Sensor and see if that clears it up. I say that because the CPS failure is heavily documented as an issue in these cars. Consider the fact that the sensor is cheap in comparison to fuel pumps/senders and diagnostic charges, and I'd be swapping this sensor for giggles. Takes almost no time with the right E8 socket and some 1/4" extensions. You're looking at under 50 bux to find out. Hell, I can't even get STAR/DAS hookd to my car for less than 105 here in town. If you've never replaced your CPS, to me, this is a no brainer. Just do it. It may just fix things, and it can't HURT in the long run.

Don't get me wrong...........it has helped me in the past,

but this time i fear the problem is far worse than a bad CPS, i agree with typhoon its an easy enough sensor to change and for the money you cant really argue?

I have recently been changing sensors and fuel pumps/sender etc...
and believe me the cost of the parts are frightening.:eek

change that CPS sensor first then check from there and keep your dollars for upgrades

what is your gas level? mine was doing the same and at a half tank it died...filled it up and it started. eventually it died completely and it was a relay fuse for the fuel pumps. I had initially replace my CPS as well

There I was, 100 miles from home and WHAM, the engine shuts off. Would not restart. I was able to pull the P-0335 code with my scan tool and found it was a problem with the crank angle sensor.

Did a search here and found this thread. Let it cool down for 30 minutes and fired right up and got my another 5 miles down the road and WHAM shuts off again.

This time I had it towed.

Got on the phone with MB of Annapolis MD and they had 17 of these sensors in stock and had one to me an hour later. 20 minutes I had the sensor swapped out and had a lot of fun on the test drive.

Everything I drive this car it puts a smile on my face!!

Hi

I took my car for a 4 hour drive on the highway yesterday and it was the longest drive my car has been on. When I got to my destination and went to start the car after sitting turned off for about 30 minutes I had this issue again of the car ticking over but not wanting to start.

I had these exact issues nearly 12 months ago and I replaced the crank position sensor and everything cleared up perfectly. Could I be having the same issues again with the newer crank position sensor?

The car will start once I try about 3 to 4 times of turning the key.

Regards,

OZZYAMG
