Some pulls against an e60 m5 *video*
Wanted to get some runs in against a 6 speed 2008 M5 before the snow starts flying.

The only reason people always say "OH BMW M5 Pulls up top blah blah" Its the Gearing Blah Blah..NO..It's the Heat-Soak E55 Blah Blah.. NO
It's that it has 40 more HP than an E55 that's why it starts catching up as the E55 has the Torque to get it there sooner. Once they both have 507 hp ,bye bye M

Dont forget its a 6 speed- clearly deficient in comparo to an SMG.
And yes our 469 (yes I owned an E55 new 6 years ago) is factory underrated to keep the egos of the S, CL, and SL55 owners intact.

our cars are monsters in 1-3 though and that is where most kills happen so Im happy with that,but if you start the race at 100mph good luck trying to beat an M6

damn I didnt know E55 can rape the M5 that bad...im thinking to upgrade to M5 next year...might have to think about that again lol. What if the E55 stock vs M5 stock ? what is outcome on that ?

I dont trust that number really...anything can happen on the road.

True, anything CAN happen on the road. I'm sure these were two professional drivers that got those numbers. I think those are pretty accurate for stock numbers (atleast for the E55) given the numbers I'VE seen on this website and from friends with stock E55s. I'm sure others have done way better or way worse.

And whats to say the M5 is underrated too and the 40hp difference still holds. Than clearly its the 40HP pulling up top and not the gearing. In both of these videos posted they look like they hit 150 each. I don't see the M5 once gaining. Compared to what do the E55's lose steam in 4th, maybe its just a perception. Just a thought.

edit-you know what youre right are 2.65 final drive is perfect,thats why AMG decided to go close ratio 7 speed in the new cars ?Nope its not a perception bud,have 4th gear do 180mph is way to long and kills its acceleration.

That race was 2nd and 3rd gear in the e55 our 3rd will do 130 and he shut down prolly right as it shifted to 4th.

I did a pull with a friend last week and my M5 pulled away from a 30mph roll. We only managed to get one run in because his car was heat soaked after the first run even in this cold weather.
