What he is saying is the people that sell this stuff dont know what the heck there talking about,they just want it sold.

why dont you buy some from different makers and let us know how they work?

Chris, please don't stop posting - I look forward to your updates, and am especially interested in the MOST equipped Hualingan unit expected out next month.

 

I'm not saying he is a fraud or anything, and perhaps his level of communication has 'opportunities.'. Just he contradicts himself and does not provide any real tangible info other than don't buy this, but buy this (from seemingly the same person/company). What he post is confusing, that is all.

What I would like to know is, Who is he? a vendor or enthusiast? How does he know some of the items posted do not work? Opinion/Fact? What company does he 'believe' will be coming out with a working unit? He provided nothing of sort.

I am interested in getting a nice head unit to update this horrible OEM unit, and if someone has a lead I am curious if the info is valid, and if they claim to have info on a current product, what is their opinion based on? And if someone puts up information that contradicts themselves I am going to ask so that we all can get a better understanding on what is going on. Seems fair.

I am one of the biggest MB enthusiasts in Sweden and still am so that is why I started the now biggest MB forum in Europe and alot of the members back then wanted a store for all MB products out there that was hard to find, I though I would help the members to get the wanted items and that finally resulted in me starting the now biggest MB store in Europe. My mother language is Swedish so sometimes it might not come out right even though I think my English is pretty good. I have now worked with MB styling and accesories such like Headunits for example in 10 years and as you can see in my other threads I know quit a bit of it by now and just wanted to be trusted when I say something about it here. (But all can not know me of course) I DO NOT sell items here..It is forbidden and I was banned for it some years ago as a missunderstanding like this thread and dont want to be that again. This means I dont dare to say to much about things as well. I am not here to sell these items overseas since you can get them much cheaper locally and shipping is a killer overseas. So that is not intresting. I am only here as a enthusiast and helper so that you dont make the same mistakes that I "have to do" to see what works and what does not by trail and error atemts. SO..Back to the units:

There are 2 manufactorers of these units. Dynavin and Hualingan. I have daily "live" contact with them since I am a re-seller of these and I put days of re-search into the units to try and get the right info on them but as another member says they only care to sell as many as they can and don care about compabillity or fitment. I ask and I ask and I ask questions straight to their technichians and they have no clue what they are talking about wich I understand directly since I do know what I am talking about.

Just an example of thier bad knolegement,,,W220 have 4 different systems. First two 4:3 systems and then two 16:9 systems. First 3 with the old fiber system and the last one with MOST. They advertise this unit to fitt ALL W220. That is impossible and they dont understand at all what I mean and only says they will return with an answer and that they will change the info on the site. Do they? NO!!!!And No again! Still says wrong after 4 months.

So when it comes to the W211 unit. They both sell it now with no MOST function. What does that mean? It only works in cars with the original casette unit with built in amp. If you have any other unit that uses a external amp wich goes on MOST it will not work at all. SO that is why I say WAIT for the MOST version to come out. That unit will probebly still not work with H/K amps but that they of course can also not give me an answer on. And when I ask for deliverydate several times a week they tell me what they can and I tell what they say here so you are updated! Both Dynavin and Hualingan says jan-feb.

It had nothing to do with trust, just information. I am actually one of the few that is serious about purchasing a unit as the OEM unit is disgusting to even look at, which explains my questions towards you to 'open' up as I might just go another route with an aftermarket head unit similar to what a few others here have done. If, however, a nice MOST head unit will be coming out shortly, then I would be willing to wait for that. Thank you again for the explanation.

If you can Chris, you have contributed much information on this forum and many people trust you, I can tell you that the forum Mercedes in Spain many people want to do what you've got, I'm one of them as well turn the biggest challenge now is to upgrade the headlights, I know that you need for new cable, I have located in Germany but did not know where I have to connect it (I think this issue can help me) I'm also waiting for any information on changing the Comand 2.5 DX.

Hate to keep asking the same question but I cant find the answer im looking for. I'm looking to by the dynavin W211 unit and want to install it myself but i dont know if its possible because of the fiber optic cable. My local audio shop told me that all benz have fiber optic cable and they will need to splice wires and by pass it. Dont know if they just want to rip me off because I drive a benz but they want to charge me $300 for the installation. I just want to know can I do it myself. I had install a dynavin unit on my buddy 5 series and that was a simple plug and play.

 

It does not have the fiber optics and I personally like the Hualingan unit better.

Have you done one of these on a W211 yet? Was it plug and play with the factory wiring harness etc? I presume you loose the 6 disc player right?

 

Not released yet. They had some problems so it is delayed.

 

Interested in getting this. Is it plug and play for 2007 W211 AMG? Also, did the group buy happen for $420/each? Also, does it include nav drive unit and bluetooth unit or are those seperate? Is satellite radio done through an external antenna?

I shot Dynavin an email last week and guess what? The DVN MBE MOST is coming out in two weeks. I'm waiting on additional details but I just got an email from Jurgen Haas at Dynavin and wanted to let you guys know.

 

I did the same about 2 weeks ago as I spotted the unit on bimmernav.com - here was Dynavin's response:

My MB is W211 2004, original head unit is without cassette player.
I really want to replace this original head unit, but have no idea about the compatibility.

If you have no casette but a single CD player unit you should use the new Dynavin with MOST. It will be released on April 17th.

 

I have checked hualingan for W211, but no idea about MOST. I am afraid they don't know either about MOST.
Do you know what is the different between MOST and non-MOST type ??
I see Dynavin website but the picture looks the same between both type (MOST & non-MOST)

What if I buy Hualingan (non-MOST type) and install in my W211 ?? what will happen ??
What will be the malfunction ??

MOST is the fiber optics. So it works with amp and your display in the speedo.
