E55 w/ goods, Z32 Project underway
Starting to turn into a BMW vs Mercedes showdown which is unfortunate as both have excellent cars. Started with fanboy rant on the M5 over the E55, which there is nothing wrong with as I expect a few people to be biased.

You seem to have intimate knowledge about that car. Do you currently own one or did you ever own one? Have you taken it personally around the 'Ring and achieved anything close to the lap times published? Have you ever owned or driven a CLK63 BS on a road course?
I'd like to hear from someone like you, with vast amounts of hands on knowledge, how these cars compare at the limit around a road course.

I think you are getting me wrong here. I am in no way saying the CSL is a better car than the CLK BS, and no i have never driven a CSL as i live in the United States. Just going off things i have read/heard about the csl. the only reason i brought it up (as well as the GTS) was because that one guy was saying that bmw could never match the performance of a clk black, thats all. and no, i have never owned a BS or driven it on a track but i have driven it for a full day around Los Angeles (no comparison obviously).
And yes, Merc is capable of creating cars that handle better than BMW's (slr, gtr, clk black, sls etc) but for the normal cars they produce, the bmw counterpart is always sportier in terms of suspension, so much so that it can be felt in every day driving

06 BMW M5 and 03 MB SL55 AMG
OK then explain this video. A modded E55 180 pulley, Heat exchanger, I/C pump, headers, 82mm throttle body, and tune will run with a chipped CL65. This CL65 beat a 5.8 Stroked M6 easily.

Modded E55s I admit are VERY fast especially when with full bolt ons. The thing is..I don't see the vid where the full bolt on E55 runs even with the chipped CL65.
As for the videos... I hate to beat more dead horses here but it's a drag race. Not the M6's exact strength
Although I did see the race till the end where I believe the CL65 had a higher overall speed it was only 3 km difference. Hypothetically, if they had kept going further, the M6 in my mind would no doubt taken over. Not going to lie but I will admit, a chipped V12TT 65 AMG is a beast/straightline racing monster. So that's that.

I disagree with this statement 100%. The e9x (especially the e92) looks fantastic, has a nice interior, and is fast to boot, STOCK. It's one of the easiest to mod for power too. And just because it's cheap to mod doesn't make it a civic.

Funny that when I finally found the right e55, there was a new e92 sitting next to it in then lot, 6-speed too. I grinned and never looked back again.
As for the rest of the thread, its pretty awesome lol, and the rivalry will never end

Don't be dumb man, you obviously read my post and saw that i said MODDED 335i's. there are plenty of bolt on 335i's Tune/downpipe/IC/Intake/meth cars running 123-126mph traps which is pretty in line with most modded 55k cars and although there are no recoded 130+ mph runs like ive seen some 55k cars, im sure the guys with upgraded turbos would run just fine with full bolt on 55k cars including headers.

now don't get me wrong, i just sold my 335i and im looking for a clean cls55 but i just like to be an unbiased car enthusiast and i hate when people are brand ******. If i was on the BMW forum and saw those clowns saying an e39 m5 is as fast as an e55 I would defend the MERC.

look at the end of the day both cars have there ups and downs it all
comes down to what you like and what your using it for for
every day car the e55 wins by far because of the trans and the ride
my e55 rides likes like a dream compared to my friends m5 his car is a better

you are ill informed my friend. with stock turbo they have run up to 126mph and with n02 hit 132mph and upgraded turbos have just started rolling out which should let them run with the top dog 55k cars. did you not see the video i posted of the asr 135i running with the modded gtr's and 997tt?

Thread was originally about a stock E55 vs a stock M5, which in itself is not much of a topic unless people want it to be as it is so easy to extract serious additional power in the E55 compared to a M5 with the same money.

Personally, I think both are fantastic cars and I would love to have both of them !! , But you have to ring the **** out of the M5 to get it to really go but when you do that, they really do go, and the sound, OH the sound,
I love taking my customers out to lunch in the E55 and watching their face's when I roll into a second gear pull, Priceless !! the grunt and the quality is what sold me on the 55 and im sure I made the right choice.
On a side note, I got a chance to have a ride in a very fast 996 GT2 last week, trust me when I say this thing make's both of them look slow, LOL !! My hands were shaking when I got out of the car.
I love taking my customers out to lunch in the E55 and watching their face's when I roll into a second gear pull, Priceless !! the grunt and the quality is what sold me on the 55 and im sure I made the right choice.

My uncle has a 997 GT@ that is chipped and it is the fastest car I have ever been in. Porsche's are no joke and not to be messed with Unless you run 10's. lol

Thats just ET....mph is a different matter and if you were to do a high speed rolling race well
an other note would be if it had 4 wheel drive (meaning forget dig/low speed races with them on the streets
but our cars are family cars and theirs are purpose built sport cars apple vs orange argument
