Lost power. What could it be?

Hi guys,

tonight i was doing some spirited driving around the back streets to go home and all was good except for a little problem.

After going through some twisties and then slowing down to make a turn, i went to accelerate out but i had no power. Was as if it lost the blower. It felt like a really slow NA V8.

I pulled over, turned off the car, turned it on and all was good again.

i did not have any lights on the dash. Would this have logged a code?

Cheers

Adrian

Sounds like a IC pump problem.

It is the pump, probably got heat soaked and blower shut down temporarily. No worries, just get a new Bosch pump.

I have been reading some old posts and it looks like its heading in that direction.

Could be the reason why it stutters at high revs as well.

"IC pump" threads are now just as common as "what to buy" threads lately

Go to your local fish store. They have pumps there.

I spoke to the stealer today and he wants me to bring it in since i have 3 months warranty on it. I told him what it was but he says "i could be anything".

Would it have thrown a code for them to see?

Also rang around local and a new pump is around the $1000 mark and was told they never changed them before.

Oh sh*t. The pump is about $150 and takes about 30min to install, you be the judge. The pump you need is a Johnson pump CM30, bosh is stock, google it to purchase. It is located on the front lower part of the car, passenger side in front of the wheel. If you want, take it to the dealer and have them fix whatever they want and charge whatever they want, and bill the warranty company. This will not throw a code. A lot of benz dealers dont have the amount of AMGs as other so this is not surprising that they have not changed one.

I will get it, I have a brand new Johnson pump in the box if you want it. But when I called a few tuners and my mechanic, they said the new Bosch that just came out to MB is much better. So I opted for the MB Bosch pump.

I just backup up the failed pump claim last night. Was pushing it a bit to get it to replicate the problem. After i lost power i pulled over, opened the bonnet and felt the heat exchanger behind the bumper. Stone cold. So then i went to touch the charger. Well lets say that you could cook a couple of good steaks on there.

Merc Dealer have it on Monday as its under a 3 month warranty.
