crap...My new pulley just fell off!

I installed my eurocharged pulley and I torqued it to 265+90* and I noticed it had some wobble. I took a drive and in my first wot run it just fell off. I hope my crank is okay.

Any wobble would have told me to check the install.

did you make sure the keyway was lined up when you pushed the pulley on?

it should line up and the pulley should not spin...

Let me know...

Yeah...it went on quite easily and it was aligned. I don't know...I'm not even angry about it since I'm used to the pain when modding. I just hope to God my keyway isn't fubared.

Just to ask did you make sure your tq wrench wasn't set to nm and not ft lbs?

Isn't there a runout check for the pulley? I know my 911 required the crank pulley to be within 0.010" max runout, iirc. I assume these are taper fit?

Correct, all pullies are tested before leaving. ANY wobble is a bad thing!

Your Pulley fell OFF!!

This is a True exsample of why I was looking for a dead Crank shaft. I want to make a fixture that would let us install a extra dowl pin in the Crank , to aid Proper alignment. This really Sucks . I hope you not did take out the Crank

When you said it went on easy what do you mean?It took us like 20 min to push my pulley on,it was such a tight fit that I think I could run the car with no bolt at all.

Yeah I have a new version EC 172mm pulley and gettting it lined up and pushed on did take a bit of effort.

I just hope nothing was damaged on the uninstall that caused the install to go bad! From your other thread, it looked like quite an ordeal!

Didn't he start the car with the wrench on the bolt? That might be a problem if it spun the keyway from that.

I doubt it as it didn't even budge....lol. Plus, I've done that before on a ton of cars have never had an issue. Regardless, when I took the oem pulley off everything looked great.

Anyways, just took the damper off along with the seal and it looks pretty bad. I the key was cleanly shaved off and I think I can knock it out by hammering out what's left of it and I believe the keyway is pretty much unharmed. The problem is more in the surface of the crank which looks pretty rough and discolored ( from heat ).

Here is a pic:

Hope that looks clear enough. I honestly think if I take what's left of the key out and replace it with a new one I'll be good to go. You guys tell me what you think.
