Hey guys, just wanted to post my .02.... The coilover conversion on the w211 E55 was pretty straight forward, from mechanical to Prgramming. There is a total of 12 parts that is needed for the swap. First deflated the airmatic with star. Then tackled the fronts, direct swap with additional parts. Rears were a bit difficult, had to remove the struts, airbag, and rear lower control arms. Reassembled rear and adjusted. I left in place the air compressor, air lines, air line valve blocks, electrical harnesses, and level sensors. There is a 50-60 lb savings with this swap.... There can be a savings of 90-100 if everything is removed. Now to programming, with the star I programmed the central gateway, eis and cluster with developer mode. Removed relay for pump and absolutely no faulty errors. Steering assisted headlights (up/down-left/right) still active and in working order.
Car drives amazingly well. It feels a lot more controllable in higher speeds. Great swap!
Pictures will be up by tomorrow.
Thanks Serge

100 POUNDS??!!! ![bow](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/bowdown.gif)
![bow](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/bowdown.gif)
OMFG that is ALOT, I expected it to be significant but not like that, especially for only one part. By the way could other manufacturers make the same specs but with their system? Maybe it could be lighter? I used to have Ohlins on my old car and they were let's just say EPIC! BenzoBoi you have brought a fresh air of excitement to what has been, let's be honest, a little dull section of the forum. WE NEED PROJECTS LIKE THIS! Weight saving projects, extreme power projects etc. I definitely need to work out something in the budget that includes some delicious parts!

I saw the car in person last week, and from what Serge was telling me, this is something that we all need on our cars. I think everyone here owes him and John big time for devoting all the time that they did to this project (I know they spent countless hours just on the STAR)

Maybe while we're waiting we could have a guessing game to figure out the 12 parts.

![](http://i55.tinypic.com/5n9pgj.jpg)
Looking at the images of the rear setup:
2 x rear control arms (not pictured)
2 x 130
2 x 12
2 x 30
from the image of the front:
2 x 90
2 x 60
that's 12 parts and maybe not the right ones, who knows????

Sorry about the delay of the parts list guys. I'll try to get a hold of my guy and get him on it. I'm still waiting for him to upload all the pics that he took on his PB/Flicker account so I can upload more pics and give a lil more on the write up.

I can tell you this much though, if I spent this much time working on something I wouldn't give the instructions out for free. That's just bad business no matter how cool a person is.

The man's busy, I know he has plans this weekend as I've been trying to get a hold of him.

Well, he said himself that he would post all the pics and parts list as ahelp to the communicty, so I am holding out hope that this is not turning into a bait and switch.

I know I know...Not being there for the install did leave holes in what was needed as far as parts. I told my guy about posting the parts that were needed. I'll see if I can get a hold of him again to ask him to get on it. Trust me, I'm not tryin to hold out on you or any of the members here. I'm all about sharing what I learn about this car with everyone here. What else is a forum for?
![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
ban myself. That'd be something to try.
![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Thanks for steppin up homie!
In the end, I do want to share what is needed and my experiences with doing all this. It's a big step forward and I know why many people haven't tried it out. I'm all about sharing info and growing as a community. I'm sure all the info that people want will be put forward soon enough.
![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Yup, but he just showed pics of the end product, and didn't give any impressions on the before and after. He also didn't include what was needed or the install process.
Look at my track record on this forum. I'm not out to bait and switch anyone. I've always been about helping others on this forum and help it grow. I've never once thought of taking advantage of anyone on this forum nor plan to ever. I was simply a person just like anyone else wanting to do something new on the W211. Since I wasn't there for every step of the install, I can't really put a parts list together. I did promise that I would get a parts list for you and anyone interested. I still plan on getting that done as soon as I can.
Look at it this way, no one has done this or at least come out with it saying that they have done it. Everything will be out in the open soon, be patient. I'm sure my guy is busy with other things at work.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
