E63 Front End Conversion - Need Help

Hi Guys. I have decided to do the e63 front end conversion. I have researched what seems to be many conflicting threads on what exact parts are needed and not. Some people say you need a whole list of parts and others say you can get away with keeping a lot of the older parts and just ordering a few of the new ones. Anyways, I want to do the conversion that includes the parktronic. Can any of my fellow AMG brothers help me make a list so I can order the parts off of parts.com? I really only want to do this once and get it right so all help is appreciated and especially from those who have already done it before, thanks for the help

BTW, these are the threads I have researched:

https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...ous-parts.html

https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...ok-inside.html

https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...arktronic.html

https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...ll-inside.html

I used this https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...ous-parts.html

I used ALL the parts... You however can get away not use the L and R supports, lower bumper absorbers, L, R, Center Absorbers... These are all required for low impact collisions, without them your bumper will pretty much shatter lol...

You can reuse the following from your older e55 bumper... side bumper mounts (between bumper and fender), washer covers, tow hook, nuts n bolts etc...

Absolutely needed: Side markers, fog lights, center, L + R mesh grills, upper grill, hood release latch (e55 is too short!), chrome inserts for bumper (I think e55 are different) Center Support

Parts.com had the best prices I could find. Any q's holla

Thanks Tbal!!! I knew you did it and was hoping you would chime in What about the parktronic? Is there anything special or alternate parts that are needed or am I pretty much set with that list? I am going to order the parts as soon as I sell my Floored Fab headers lol. I decided there is no point of voiding my Chrysler warranty that is good till 2015 when my car is already fast stock

haha no problems bro... Its a straight swap, nothing crazy. My bodyshop had doubts as they kept telling me the e63 has wider fenders... Keep us posted if any furthur q's

My car didnt have parktronic so I lucked out there. Checkout e55dimon 's conversion thread, he did some custom work to fit those parking sensors...

What about the parts below that he is says are not needed? Do I need them? I sourced most of the parts on parts.com and the total is a little over $2k, does that sound right?

The undertray does not need to be changed
The lower reinforcements have nowhere to latch onto for the previous models, so they were deemed unnecessary
You DO need to order a longer hood latch as the grille is more protruding.

Correct.... lower reinforcements, supports are unessessary, undertray doesnt need to be touched.

The hood latch, as I said earlier DOES need to be changed, as the e63 grill is pointier than the e55, hence you need the extended hood realease latch...

fog lights you can use the DEPO brand from ebay. Its 1/2 the price of the oem ones. Looks/functions the same. You can get the w211 facelift grill in black from ebay for about $180 shipped.

Hi Tbal. I found the depo headlights below for $150 so I got that figured out. On the grille, I looked on eBay but did not find the updated w211 in black. Are you talking about oem or after market grille that has been painted? Also, which of the following lower reinforcement's are not needed? After this I have everything figured out Thanks again, Chris.

211-885-03-16 Reinforcement For Lower Bumper center $28.50 (This part bonds to the inside of the bumper on the lower center I would use window urethane
to bond to bumper)
211-885-05-16 $12.50 reinforcement for left side of bumper lower
211-885-06-16 $12.50 reinforcement for right side of bumper lower
211-885-07-16 Reinforcement For Lower Bumper $25.00 (This part bonds to the inside of the bumper on the lower Left side I would use window urethane to bond to bumper)
211-885-08-16 Reinforcement For Lower Bumper $25.00 (This part bonds to the inside of the bumper on the lower Right I would use window urethane to bond to bumper)

Mikey, defo get the 171 parktronic brakets, the existing ones pry off and stick the new ones on, then the existing sensors clip straight on. Also get the re-inforcements as mentioned on the threads as all that makes the bumper alot more solid.

What is the part # for the brackets and are they oem mercedes parts? Also, I plan on buying all of the reinforcements except the lower one's because from what I read they have nowhere to attach themselves. Is this correct? Thx

What tbal said. First thread, get all the parts except the plastic pieces. The plastic lower reinforcements are money thrown away.

My thread just got bumped today, you can check it out. Definitely get those 171 brackets, I shoulda.

I did these just to make the bumper more rigid. These pieces were poly urethaned on.

You don't have to do any of them but I would do the center support center absorber and center lower reinforcement atleast! It's about 1500-2g for the stuff indeed

Heres a pic of the lower piece I'm talking about:

I never put them in, if you feel like you need them I'll sell them to you cheaper than parts.com. I still say you dont need them though, save a few bucks.

What shipping did you guys choose from parts.com? I am getting a quote of $260 for ground shipping which I assume is UPS. They have an option for freight which I assume is cheaper, but you have to place the order and pay first before you can find out. I do not want to order and pay freight if it ends up costing more lol. Thanks

Hi Tbal. I am a little confused. So the three above I know you did, but what about the two below? Are those the ones that they say have nowhere to attach or are useless? Thanks.

211-885-05-16 $12.50 reinforcement for left side of bumper lower
211-885-06-16 $12.50 reinforcement for right side of bumper lower

Hey, this is the exact list of items I am ordering from parts.com, the only things I did not order were the splash shield/engine under tray which is not needed, fog lights (ordering the depo on eBay), and the retaining clips for mesh which they did not have (Text in Red). Lol . The only question I have left is whether to get ground shipping or freight? I'm assuming freight will be much cheaper than the $250 for ground, but they don't tell u till the moment it ships and you're already charged. What did u do? Thanks

What are you so confused about? You gotta get all those parts unfortunately.

For foglights order Hellas from pelicanparts.com instead. $64ea and a much better foglight. I just ordered another since a rock took mine out.
