911 P-Turbo Ruf 550 or Nissan GTR
Well,
It's been a great AMG run for me.
C32 --> E55 --> CLS55 --> and next??.
What do you guys think.
A 2002 911 Ruf Turbo 550 w/ 40k miles ($48-54k)
or
A 2009/2010 Nissan GTR. (more expensive option at around $60-65k)
I do know that I'd be taking a fairly larger risk buy buying an older and heavily modified car. Ruf does have a great reputation though. I just can't get it out of my head, it's stunning. Car is being sold at a P-dealer. Owner put $40k in Ruf work. Bigger turbos, suspension, rim etc..
Thoughts???

Never was a fan of the 996 styling, however, I am sure being a Turbo and a RUF car, it looks fantastic.
Hmmmmm.... P car for me. Would love to see a picture of it.

a Rivera...via a Custom 24, Strat and Les Paul
Would also love to see a picture of the RUF (any RUF is BADAZZ) but I also don't like the front treatment for that year with the TT. I would go with the GTR. Now if it was a 997 RUF or a 1996 TT. . .game over

Can't really lose with either..
RUF are awesome and most have no clue what it is, however you'll certainly see more 911's out than you would a GTR on an average day

I have another friend that just got a GTR last week. The thing gets more attention than any Ferrari or Lambo I've seen on the streets. Be prepared for it.

I love RUFs but I'd have to say GT-R, newer technology, easy to make really fast, more practical, more reliable, a lot shorter wait for parts and probably has a warranty if it's that new!
I don't believe that at all. I have been out with groups where all 3 cars mentioned were present and people don't even see the GT-R, it might as well be a maxima when in the presence of true supercars (even though it may very well be faster).

Note - the statement that it gets more looks is from a friend that owns a Lambo Galardo, Ferrari F430, and a Nissan GTR.

Note - I'd say the GTR is more of a "supercar" than the average Lambo or Ferrari. Just because they're made by an exotic manufacturer doesn't qualify them as supercars.
But hey, this is getting a little off topic.

I have too. The GTR is more popular with the younger crowd, and is still a bit more rare depending on where you're from. The attention you're likely to get with it isn't always the kind you want, more like the annoying honda revving on you and mad ******* you at the gas station.

That I can agree with! Definitely the younger gt-r / honda fanboi's love that car, and think it's the best machine ever made (it's definitely up there). Yeah you don't really get the revving and stuff to a lambo, more just panties coming off lol.
Lucky guy! I would love to have that collection!

Oh for sure, the technology in that car is absolutely incredible, but the styling and price tag of the GT-R doesn't put it in the supercar category. Being a supercar isn't just about speed or technology, otherwise a $10k fox body mustang that can run 9's would be a supercar lol

My other buddy that just picked up a GTR this weekend had a hard time visiting the DMV to get a tag without getting mobbed by people asking him about his car. Apparently the LEO at the DMV also took special interest and threatened to arrest him for driving it there with no plate. ha.
His story sounded ridiculous, but nonetheless true.

I don't think price has anything to do with it, honestly. It's about having "supercar" like performance from the factory. You can modify almost any car to be fast, the diffference is the manufacturer building it to be that way with zero modification.
I'd certainly say the GTR is Nissan's supercar, much like the Lexus LFA, Dodge Viper, and Chevy Corvette ZR1 are from those respective manufacturers. I'd say the Lexus is the only one from that list I'd qualify as "exotic".

Hahahaha!! that's hilarious! Typical cop attitude right there! I don't doubt he gets people stopping him all the time, it's a badass car for sure, I just feel like a lambo or ferrari would get moer attention in a normal environment (not a car meet or such)

It seems GTR ownership becomes much more rare the farther you get from the west coast. In Cali I noticed them a lot more, dare I say due to the larger population of Asian auto enthusiasts.
I think there's something about Godzilla and the mystique about it, most likely due to the fact that you weren't able to legally import one to america for well over a decade.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree here.

Yeah the R33 / R34 bodystyle is awesome! I do love seeing them!
