New toy for the man cave

After searching for over a year, I finally snagged the used tire changer I'd been hunting for. It was a little rough when delivered, but I finished reconditioning it over the weekend. The man cave is now fully equipped and no more rapeage at the local tire store. 20's? Child's play.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for the balancer as well as the new toy? I have been following a few TC3500s on eBay for about $3000 but they always look beat to hell!

I won't have the room to get it in my garage but I hear you about the rapeage at the tire shop! Good job.

That is awesome. I am sure you will able to use the balancer to it's full capabilities, unlike many tire shops.

That's a definite on that one. I've had the balancer for a while and am Hunter Certified on it. To really use it to its full capability requires more time than your typical tire store is willing to spend because no one wants to pay for that time, and chances are, their tire mechanics don't even fully know how to use all of its features. So you go to a shop with a road force balancer, and think you're getting a road force balance (and maybe paying a bit extra for it), but probably over nine times out of ten you're actually not. The tire hasn't been properly force matched to the rim (which requires bare rim runout measurements), and more than likely, the RFV spec has been adjusted on the machine to require less precision. It was real frustration with tire shops that led me down this path.
