RIP My E55
The grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Any thoughts about acting like a grown up and paying your own expenses? You still live at home, right?.... most likely rent-free. Food's probably free too. Does dad still pay the car insurance premiums?

You could try taking out a loan to pay for this repair... Not as good as "free money from dad" but at some point in life you'll need to take some personal responsibility for your own decisions /mistakes / expenses. Spread those payments out over 3 or 4 years and it should be easy to manage...even with a crappy-paying job.
You do have a job, right?

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I wish my dad paid for my cars when I was your age. I didn't have anything that I couldn't call junk until I made 60-70k per year, and even then, it wasn't as nice as a modern AMG. Hell, I still don't own an AMG.

No sense in beating the guy while he is down. Pretty sure he comes to mbworld to share his love for the E55 and not seek out parenting experts for critiques. Raise your kids and let his parents raise him.
I think it's a HUGE mistake however to get any kind of 65 vehicle in the near future though...they are just to expensive to maintain and if something like this were to happen to a 65 then you are REALLY in big trouble.
I hate to see this car go down, but the entire event has been covered on this form as well as others.
Good luck Jonncy, I hope what ever way you go you get something that makes you happy. Fixing the car would be my recommendation. Replacing a cylinder is not that big of deal. You have resources in your area. PM MBTEK - < Scott can point you in the right direction

add fuel and insurance, you're talking at least $1800-2k/mo.
I hope this is a doctorate community college?

Seriously, listen to what the guys here are telling you. You got great advice that got you pretty far with your car on their advice right? Why would they lead you wrong now?
Suck it up, buy a used cop car for a couple grand to drive around as you save up the $ to fix this thing and man up. You can't always have everything handed to you in life.
