Sorry to hear bro but it's number 8. Same symptoms as the others I have heard about. Let me know about the injectors and rail. I think I need them now from reading this..

Lets not have another tuner war.. Think this has more to do with the lack of the fuel rail and injectors, rather than the tune itself..

Definitely a fuel rail issue and #8. Regardless of tune.

E55 w/ goods, Z32 Project underway
I seldom run in M mode, always in S mode and then shift down to the gear I want to avoid any rev limiter issues which I never liked on any car.

You have a very solid list of mods except the most important which reviewing prior blown motors on this forum subsection appears to be larger injectors. This seems to be a must on a mod'd engine but one that is generally skipped as it is more of a safety item vs. increasing HP (though yes, some state otherwise).

Guess this just proves again the importance of larger injectors-even for #8. Very curious what you find once you pull the heads. Please take solid photos for everyone to view.

You planning on tearing it apart yourself? Pretty easy motor to work on.

Good thing is, when you are done, you will have a better condition motor.

Referring to #8 cylinder and pressure drop in the fuel rail. Some modify the stock fuel rail by connecting a line on the back side equalizing the pressure throughout, looping it, return vs returnless. Some others buy one, while still others just go with larger injectors.

Thanks bro! So for 3500 I get an engine minus the blower? I gotta see this!

Thanks AMG! Hopefully I ultimately don't decide to part out because I love my car so much.

I might go with forged pistons like Exotic-Metal and Havoc are running. Maybe they can chime in on what route I should go in rebuilding my motor. I will have my car towed to my mechanic right after Christmas.

I don't think my tune was at fault, but im skeptical about the TCU tune raising the RPM limit to 6800.

Yep, I plan on pulling my motor come Spring just to rebuild it with forged pistons and stronger rods. Keeps my tools busy.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Looks like its from a combination of things causing your engine to go. But the culprit looks like fuel starvation on #8 as others have said. With those mods I'm surprised you didn't upgrade w Ttm fuel rail sooner.

Cars can be rebuilt. Good thing nothing happened to you during the race.

Occams Razor - its likely #8. No safety rail + 180 + 3-4 shift.

Why not let the computer make the 3-4 instead of doing it manually? Considering I also run the TCU tune it's way faster when you don't have human error guessing at when to shift.

I agree, especially since your car was fine with the OE until the TCU was tuned by EC...bit of an ominous sign

EC please chime in do all of the TCU tunes move the shift point up to 6800 or is that upon request.
Also the rev limiter "which I thought was or is engine controlled is different than the shift point you can bounce off the rev limiter and not hit your shift point under full throttle. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Or, you know, it could be the same thing thats blown all the other motors when the weather cools down, given the mods, fuel demands, and time of year.

Why learn from the past and mistakes of others when we can speculate!

I'm sure EC meant for owners to bounce off the limiter at 130 in cold weather. Right?

I am ordering my TCU tune in 2-3 days (after holiday craziness subsides) and I am requesting STOCK redline. They should be able to do this. I am not building a dyno queen, and don't need the extra 500rpm.

TTM rail and injectors will be on my car when I install my pulley/tune. I believe in the safety items first.

I never run in M mode while doing straight line accel runs, only when carving twisties, since I normally am not near redline when doing it. To each his own though
.
Regardless, John-I am very sorry for what's happened and I hope the damage is as minimal as possible. It always makes me sick to read these threads. I love my car too (my fiance says more than her ) and know you must be hating it. As all others have said, you're ok, and it's just an engine in the end. You'll bring her back stronger, and with the proper fueling mods in place. Good luck and update with results.

The fuel rail that you referred to WILL NOT correct the fueling issue even with injectors. You are still building pressure from 2 different locations and the fuel pressure will not be consistent to all of the cylinders. In fact, now you will have to worry about 4 and 8 instead of 7 & 8. Just moving the lean cylinders to a different location.

Do you have a data logging set up on your car? You have a lot of mods and just larger injectors?

FYI: The TTM Fuel Rail for the M113 and M112 have a provisional patent on both of them.
