2003 e55 amg summer tire selection
Ok I need professional advice. I'm about to start my first summer with the e55. I'm looking to get the best summer tire for this car. My 3 options are as follows:

front tire size: 245-40-18
rear tire size: 265-35-18

1- continental sportcontact 3
2- continental extremecontact dw
3- michelin pilot supersport (load rating not matching oem in the front)

The order above does not reflect the interest i have for each.

I've read good things about the DW and SS tires but can't make a decision.
i live in montreal, and the roads are crappy and it rains and all that good stuff.

I like the DW, but go 275 not 265 in the rear.

ok. so 275-35-18? the profile doest change? is it a noticeable difference?

The profile does change, but wont be noticeable.

I run a 275/35/18 now.. Great tire and should last you over 10k miles (I have many track passes too)

any suggestions for my friends c55 amg? he's running 245 in the back now...can he move up to a 255 with no problems?

this is a great tire size calculator that you can play with aspect ratios,etc...

try to keep the diameter of the tire as close to the stock size to get proper speedo readings

also, in the 275 tire the load rating doesn't match. in the 265 it 97Y XL in the 275 its 95Y. is this bad?

Bottom line, for summer driving where it rains, go with the grand daddy.

Michelin PS2. I have NEVER...really mean it...read a post on this forum of a guy regretting spending the cash on PS2s. I am sure they are there, just one in a million.

Lots of cheaper options and sticky road racers, but for incredible performance and no death in rain. Go with the classics.

Just pages and pages of great reviews on the forum.
