How to improve handling on E63 amg, coil over??? thicker sway bar??

Hi Guys `

DID my search before posting , most thread results were lowering, camber and

KW-V3 coil over installation for E55 s. Didnt quite answer my question.

I love this W211 E63. I personally believe it was the pinnacle of E class design.

But in terms of handling I wish it was bit more aggressive !! If I want comfort

and power , I would have went with S65 AMG .

How can I improve handling on 63?? I am not looking for MINI COOPER JCW

handling . Just enough so I don't feel the roll and pitching.

Is there a way altering airmatic program to tighten up the valves even more

so that it'll be spot on when I set it to Airmatic II setting .??

Also do we have SWAYBARS ???? I mean I just cant find a single manufacture

that makes performance swaybars for 63.

Lastly , I was under the impression there are no springs inside the suspension

components right ??? we have the air bags right ??? Is this why people insert

lowering links instead of changing out the springs ???

Thank you for reading my long thread !! I thank you in advance and

have a safe drive !!

There is a KW-V2 kit which requires some extra components from MB. Those are on a thread you have not searched for yet.

I suspect there are no roll bar "upgrades" since those on our cars are monsters already.

What track are you trying to improve on? I suggest some good tires for the track.

Also, you might have tried to purchase a P30 car.

PM me and we can meet up and I can give you a kick start

I have done:
Lightweight and wider wheels (9" front, 10" back), Lightweight Brake rotors (that saved around 46-50 lbs of rotation masses) => Help handling, braking, acceleration...
Light and sticky tires (Michelin PSS, bonus is another we 4 to 6 pound lighter too) => a world of difference compared the stockers
STAR Lowering + K-Mac bushings (to get tire alignment back in spec, control tire wear and reduce suspension sloppiness) => Less body roll and a more neutral handling car.

With all that I feel handling have improve quite a bit, less body roll, more control, and after a nice and short understeer in curve entry I can control the oversteer quite easily with the gas pedal on the exit. I personally really like the car like this in comfort mode, the suspension is more compliant, less bouncy and more predictable.

PM BenzoBoy, he did the full conversion. I agree on the looks being best and suspension sucking a large one...sometimes I go into an exit too fast and "wtf" happens. After 3 awd high psi cars, its always a challenge.

I think I should look into KW v2 , since it'll eliminate Air matic trouble completely.

When you say stock sway bars are "monsters" do you mean they are

already plenty thick and stiff ??? Both front and back ?

I'm trying to tack the car . But I still drive around 80~110 sometimes and

felt the need for improvements. Id love to meet a fellow board member !

I'm free on sundays so maybe we could meet up somewhere around San Bruno

area ~ !! Thank you for your advice ~!!Did you do any exhaust mod ?

How much did your lightweight rotors cost and which brand did you buy ?

When you say light weight wheels ~ do you mean FORGED???do you happen

to know the weight by any chance?

wow man !! Cant imagine what it would feel like ~!! Thank you for sharing !!

Full conversion of coil overs ??? Wow !! If installations are not too ridiculous

looks like conversion is the only way to solve my problem . But then again

I'll still have to purchase some few additional parts for the conversion right ?

God I wish 63 had standard oil shocks from Ohillins .

Call me crazy but I like airmatic > coilovers. Had several cars on those and as a daily driver airmatic is best. Just had 2 weeks of construction at work..(raise car and clear the bullsheit.), coilovers would have me stuck on bumper.

For the rotors I went with the stage 2 package put together by ACG, the rotors are Giro Rotors (the same as evosport) slotted only.
My wheels are HRE R40 forged, front 19.8 lbs, rear 20 lbs

I think theses are some of the best mods, as they positively impact pretty much every aspect of the vehicle performance: acceleration, braking, handling...

Agreed. Unless you are planning on taking the car on a track on a regular basis. However, before spending the money to make the car go fast, spend it on the driver.

Go to the AMG Academy. I did Pro last year. In a 2012 E63 I did a 1:50.00. The fastest student lap in an SLS was a 1:47.1 (I did a 1:47.2).

nysid2007, since you drive so fast, can you come further south? Alice's on skyline drive is a great car place.
