If you are using a reservoir without an inlet and outlet, your setup is less than optimal. Obviously the bigger the reservoir the better....

Does your BMW power steering res have a breather hole in the cap?

I have tons of logs before and after the split (using the Cobra reservoir)....I will post some data later if you want. Although there were improvements with the small reservoir, a larger reservoir would be better, especially if the ambient temperature is hot and/or you are doing long and repeated pulls.

That would be great, thanks.. I hear what you are saying, but I dont really want to go with a trunk tank, and im not confident in the FTP engine bay tank as it seems like it isnt a complete kit from what ive heard.

The FTP engine bay reservoir I purchased and received came with everything needed for the install. Only small problem I noticed was the filler lid was leaking a little fluid. A little RTV solved the problem.
