You can disagree all you want, but you aren't taking into consideration the pumping losses of a restrictive intake. I've done the tests myself and in my Pontiac Grand Prix I made more power with a filter straight on the TB( dynoed with the hood closed ) than I did with a 3" intake into the fender. I later modified the fender opening and fit a 4" pipe and that's when the intake made more power than a filter straight on the TB.
I later did the same on my 1.8T GTI and I could never get an intake that made more power than a filter directly on the MAF and straight into the the turbo inlet. Granted, I could never fit a pipe larger than 3". Not only that, but I measured IAT's with these setups on this car and the open filter did not raise IAT's AT ALL...I could not measure a single degree difference between a CAT and a HAI. That's an efficient intercooler doing it's job.
On my E55 I saw the oposite, the open TB made less power then the oem airbox. The oem airbox isn't half bad though especially when modified and the oem intercooler is already at it's wits even with cool intake air and probably can't handle hotter air.
Now, the Weistec setup? Try pumping 700whp worth of airflow through a 3" pipe that'll be at least 3 feet long. The open cone will make a lot of sense after you do. Perhaps those who buy it can make a large intake that will help feed it properly. Either way, I guess we'll find out.
FWIW, if you know how to read compressor maps, you know that intake restriction affects how you apply a map to an engine.

A properly designed CAI is definitely better than an open cone, I never said otherwise. The problem is making a properly designed CAI on the Weistec setup. I'm not sure how possible it is without modifying a few things underhood, such as the radiator.
Now put that same power level into a E55, and you too should have an easy pump gas 600rwhp car at less boost, I am thinking around 15lbs. I will tell you this, very rarely do twin screw cobras lose on the street, they have a damn good reputation. But I saw first hand when I was up at Timmayfest, a 600rwhp cobra get *** raped by a 530rwhp e55. They went at it twice and both times, the e55 from a 30mph role jumped out 3 cars from the hit and held it. The mustang could not real it in. For those of us that were there, it was an E55 on this board, and his power level I believe is 530/580 on a dynojet. He can reveal himself on here if he wants. Three of us on this forum where there to see it first hand.
Now imagine adding 70rwhp more with the Weistec
Part of the problem is, if you start shooting for 650rwhp or even 700rwhp, you will never hook up, and will probably get your *** handed to you by lesser cars. I am not saying the E55 is a lesser car than a twin screw cobra, but that guy had 315 Nitto Drags, and the e55 was on 20" street tires, poor cobra could still not hook up, where as the beast squatted and hole shotted..... There comes a point when to much power is useless.

He was all over the track, I was watching him in my rearview/sideview mirror almost the whole track as he fishtailed all over the place trying to beat me lol. He trapped like 126 if I remember right but ran a high 12.
I would like to see that video mentioned above if someone can find it.

I have to say though, I am a little skeptical of their stellar reputation. I referred a contact to Weistec for a tune on his M157 because of the professionalism and quality they (appear to) exude. He was planning on originally going with a Renntech tune before I more or less convinced him to check out Weistec's tune. Long story short, it was a very unsatisfying experience for him. It made me look bad for referring him to Weistec because of how poorly he was treated and the damage done.
My point is, before you all spend a lot of money for this kit, see it in person, and maybe get to know them a little bit better. I'm not saying that everyone has poor experiences with them, and I'm sure it must be a rarity, but I can only speak from his experience, and because of that, I don't think I could do business with them.
After speaking with a friend who is a lawyer, I discovered that this sort of blackmail is in fact illegal. You sure you want to be giving these guys your money?
Weistec: Why don't you contact me directly this time if you're going to muscle down people...
