They have the down paddle connector properly pinned for your application and comes with the longer down paddle harness which will simplify installation on your wheel.

Thank you!! I hope in s couple months I'll get a new wheel!

Adding a new steering is the one single thing, you can do to upgrade and enhance your vehicle. 😁

I got new steering wheel. I already watched a nice video about removing and replacing a steering wheel but Idk how to perfectly mark the position of the new wheel or how to make sure my new wheel will be perfectly centered. Please share your thoughts. TIA!

Here's my new steering wheel made by LederManZ: https://www.instagram.com/grigul_design

Really nice looking wheel!!
(I might want to put one in my SL55 : )

in so far as wheel alignment goes, both your old and new wheels should be missing one tooth at the very top and bottom of their internal spline (at 6 and 12 when the front wheels are pointed straight ahead) you should also be able to see that your steering shaft has a mark on it that lines up with the upper missing tooth .... use this as a reference. If for some reason you don't see a mark on the steering shaft that lines up with the missing tooth , you can make your own mark.

I would love to hear how much you paid for the wheel. you can send me a pm if you are worried about breaking some rule by posting it .

Cheers and stay safe!

Chris, thank you for this info!! Now I feel a bit more confident! I don't have my stock wheel with me but I just checked my new one and it clearly has cavities / missing teeth exactly at 12 and 6. Quick question: please tell the torque specs when tightening the steering wheel bolt?

PS: I found this article here. Should be also useful for steering wheel removal/installation: https://www.pelicanparts.com/techart...el_Removal.htm
And this video too:

Fellas, I paid $835 for this custom wheel including shipping. This is not cheap at all but I have zero regrets so far. My OEM CLS W219 wheel was a commonly used wheel for that era. They used it in a regular CLS 550 as well as in their top dog SL65. I still can't imagine why they never used something more special in SL65. All I know that only later in the end of 2000s and in early 2010s they started to use more sporty items in their AMG vehicles. Anyway I wanted a sporty BS style wheel and I now I have it. I was thinking about custom steering wheel with carbon fiber inserts or alcantara inserts but I'm very glad I followed CLK63 BS wheel style.

I’ve posted in this thread previously, and I’m glad that some have listened to me. Here is my leather/alcantara steering wheel that Ledermanz made for me last year. I’m convinced that Ledermanz makes the best quality steering wheels out of Europe. And when your wheel arrives, you’ll not be disappointed. I’ve paid $750 + $50 S/H for DHL 2 day delivery.

Your steering wheel looks great!!! Please remind who made your CF interior trim? I'm currently discussing it with two companies - oCarbon and MEC design but I need to find donor parts first.

Matthew Johnson the owner of OCarbon made my carbon fiber trim pieces. His parts are superior, to what’s currently being offered out there. If you want quality parts that will fit correctly, with no issues and stand the test of time, then go with OCarbon. But the only caveat, is that you have to provide him with a donor trim set first, as they don’t stock OE parts. But the good thing is parts are readily available on eBay.

Buy it, have them ship it directly to OCarbon and wait 7-8 weeks, and when it arrives, you’ll be blown away with the quality, and have a bigger smile on your face then I did. 😁. Remember quality can’t be rushed, as I know that I got on Matthew’s nerves with the constant emails asking for updates. 🤔

Thank you! Please tell if your OCarbon lids are not carbon right? He offered me to paint in on glossy black because it would be to difficult to cover lid with carbon fiber.

.

80 Nm is the correct torque for the steering wheel bolt. I recommend anti-seize be used on the underside of the head of the bolt when re-installing.

did your price include a core charge?

Cheers,

Here is the issue with this, it is very difficult to bond carbon fiber to the roll up center cover. The CF tends to delaminate, no matter how much apoxy is applied. This has been a problem that Matthew hasn’t concurred. So, he just paints them in a high gloss black. I wanted him to do mine in CF, but he said it would start coming apart, and he didn’t want the hassle of dealing with an angry customer ruining his reputation on the Internet. So he will not do it.
But it looks good in high gloss black, now after having it for awhile, I don’t think twice about it.

My BS Instrument Cluster isn't from a CLK BS. But it is an OEM part, that was modified with CF. It was made by Nic Wright, I also believe he has a Instagram account.
Besides, knowing AMG a genuine BS CF Instrument cluster would cost at least $1250 I paid $350 from Nic. If you look closely you will see that the weave pattern on the cluster, was laid down going to the left in the opposite direction, as the CF trim pieces.
But that is my only regret, but most people don't even notice that, but I do. And if you look closely at all the trim pieces they are all laid down in the same direction going to the right (every piece). That is also why it look two months to produce them. You can't rush perfection.

Both Ledermanz (Steering Wheel) and OCarbon (Carbon Fiber Trim) and Nick Wright (Carbon Fiber Instrument Cluster) did an awesome job, very beautiful work. I'm very satisfied, and you'll be too.....

Chris, thank you for this info!! Much appreciated!!

Regarding core - I didn't send anything and they never asked and I really like it. So they use their own cores. It's muuuuch better than finding a donor item and shipping it to them.

Sergey84,

Did your Ledermanz steering wheel come with its own airbag? Also Nick Wright does carbon fiber pieces as well. I looked to Nick to do my carbon fiber shift knob, but the price was around $600. He explained his entire bonding process to me, How the carbon fiber filaments are laid down which justifies the added cost. He also explained how difficult it is to lay down carbon fiber on a curved surface, like a shift knob, and still have it come out looking excellent with the weave pattern all in the direction.
But I decided that my interior had enough carbon fiber, and the OE shift knob added to the contrast the car needed. The shift knob is covered in leather and alcantara, so it matches with the seats and the headliner. Besides a carbon knob would have been carbon overload, same with a carbon steering wheel. 🤔

Nope, it didn't include any airbag. I'll need to use my OEM airbag. In the video above I did unboxing of LederManZ steering wheel.

I was in communication with Alexsevj directly via his email. The first wheel he made me didn’t arrive, disappeared off the DHL ramp in Chicago. Thieving *******s. After DHL conducted an extensive search, as it was ensured and found nothing. I reached back out to Alexsevj who was on vacation, but he agreed he would return from vacation early to make my wheel. Since the first wheel had a alcantara cover airbag, he made this exactly like the original.

And the best part is, I had my new wheel within a week.

So, I now have an extra OE airbag. But you would need to specify this to Alexsevj when you originally order it. But he can make your wheel in any color, material, and design you choose.

At that time Nick didn’t do complete interiors, just small scale carbon fiber components. Like steering wheels, shift knobs etc. But I’m sure that he does now.

Keep in mind that you can use any 07-09 W211 Interior trim from a E350 or E500. It doesn’t have to come from an AMG. Matthew will use a router to carve out the carbon fiber to fit door controls and shift lever cover for transmission settings button.

Just purchase any one to get the ball rolling 👍🏽

I have CLS W219. I hope I could use any W219 interior but I need to check part numbers to make sure it's true.

I forgot to mention something and it may be important to someone:

My custom steering wheel came without finger grooves which usually located on the back of the OEM wheel and provide better grip. So in other words on the back it's flat and not wavy. After I got my wheel I asked Aleksejs (LederManZ) if it's possible to do grooves next time and he confirmed that it's possible.

All the trim for your W219 should all be the same, the only difference is when it comes to the center console trim, as the AMG has a button for the transmission settings. I know for a fact that all W211 interior trim are universal among all the models, the only difference is the trim around the shifter that varies among the models. Especially the AMG's.
