BBS LM Reps
Hey All,
Anyone running BBS LM Reps on their E55? I think I could run the ESM 004's in 20's but when I spoke to them today they seemed pretty happy with telling me they had nothing that fit.
I would appreciate any info pointing me in the right direction.
Thanks.
Avi

Dude, search. Google BBS LM W211 and you get a ton of results.
You're welcome...

I have done a crap load of searching There is a big difference between W211 and W211 AMG. So many wheels that work on a W211 don't work on an AMG due to the brake clearance issues.
So far I have seen ESM, Powerwheels and STR LM reps and no one is sure whether the wheels will fit an AMG car. I am trying to find out if anyone has a set of reps and which ones worked on their W211 AMG.
Thanks for the reply though.

Hey,
So you had the Varstoen reps in 5X114 and ran them on your E55 with "wobble lugs" and had no problems?
If so, where did you get the wobble lugs and what size were they? Were there any other modifications that needed to be done (read a post about these wobble lugs and they said some other drilling needed to be done)?
I would appreciate any specific info you have.
Thanks.
Avi

The thread you have pointed to are for genuine BBS LM's. I am looking for reps. There are a ton of threads related to real BBS LM's but unfortunately I cannot afford a real set.

Doesn't matter if they are reps or BBS. Now you know what size and offsets to look for. But with knockoffs they don't have 5x112. Custom drill or wobble bolts as mentioned.

2003 E55 AMG Silver with Merlot Interior
http://www.wheelplususa.com/
I bought my reps from them almost 2years ago now, but they were very helpful. Mine were 19 x 8.5 x 38mm offset and 19 x 9.5 x 35mm offset. They provided a (either 5 or 6mm) spacer/hubcentric ring (all one machined pc) for the front to clear the calipers and back fit perfect as is. I have about 1/4"-3/8" of clearance in the back (fully slammed) with 275's - 285's will go on when these are toast.
I was leary buying reps, but these I have been pleased with. The rears were just over 4lbs lighter than stock each and the fronts about 2.5lbs lighter. Not a ton lighter, but not bad either - plus all 4 balanced out very well. One wheel didnt need a weight at all and two just needed one small weight each and the forth needed only three. And they drive smooth as silk. And yes I know about costs - the wife made me put the 4k savings into the college fund..lol
Here are a few pics - you can see the spacer in the pic of just the front rim.

You may want to give Wheelsplus a call out in Los Angeles.

You rock man! Thank you so much for the info. I called Wheels Plus and they are checking on a wheel and tire package for me now.
Love your car too. Looks sweet. We may be twins though as I am leaning towards silver instead of the gunmetal option.
Hopefuly they can hook me up!
Thanks again for everyones input and assistance!

Hey All,
I got one more question, hopefully someone will know the answer to this.
Is the issue with the AMG brake clearance a question of what offset wheel you run. If you run the correct offset wheel (using a spacer or not) will you clear the AMG brakes? Or is it the offset and the actual design of the wheel that gets that clearance? Certain designed wheels (concave, curved face, etc) will work better than others?
Just wondering as this wobble bolt deal opens up more wheel choices but since they are not Merc specific wheels, don't think anyone will know if they clear AMG brakes.
Any insight is appreciated.
