Put the gates HD 505 belt on tonight...

IMHO I have more surface area on my belt in comparison to the other belt - not sure what size that one was - see the angle difference?
rchase - what size belt was that one?

Toad - Your thread says:
Gates K080505HD V-Belt - close to OEM size $25
Want to confirm before I order, thanks!
I have stock pulleys and I think I'm going with a 510. My logic is that the longer belt will allow more belt surface area to be in contact with the SC pulley.
Could be totally wrong though and maybe the higher tension of the shorter 505 belt is better.
Anybody want to chime in?

OEM size is 51 inches for the S/C belt
belt length is the last 3 digits - so OEM would be a 510 belt (or 51.0")
a shorter belt may be beneficial when using the S/C pulley as it's smaller - so this thread talks about the 505 belt which is 50.5" (so 1/2 inch shorter)
the 496 belt is 49.6" (duh) so it's about 1.4" shorter than the OEM belt
hope this helps!
