E55 vs. CLS55...would you?
Would you trade a:
2004 E55 with 64k miles on the clock
+ $13k
>>>>>>
2005 CLS55 with 13k miles?
![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
![Confused](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
Both cars are similarly equipped with Eurocharged ECU-tune on the E55. No pulleys or anything.

CLS is not much heavier. They CLS55 only 2006 so not possible for 2005.
It should be 2 years newer than E55. I would chose CLS even for a bit more price.

E55 AMG WAGON 2004
If I didn't need a wagon I would have gone for a 219 CLS55, better looking than the current model too IMO.

CLS, but I would be hard pressed to drop $13k for what is basically a re-body of the car you have right now with a different back seat.

The CLS interior alone is worth $10K more. Not even a question, pull the trigger.

Exactly... you're essentially getting the same exact car you have now with different wheels, mufflers, and a "body kit". Yes, I know it's more than a body kit, but the chassis is similar if not the same. If it's mostly about the looks, a small portion of that $13k can make your E55 very eye-friendly.

But of course, there could be some problems with it once i actually start driving it. It has only been driven 2000 miles since 2006. What is the status of the seals in the engine...?

Maybe in the US. In Europe we had them for 2005 and 2006. They started making them in october 2004. Also, the 18 inch wheels were standard equipment in Europe, 19 inch wheels were extra.

CLS55 owner here and I'm not sure if I would be willing to part with the E55 PLUS an additional $13k for a similar car. You must decide if the upgrade is worth $13,000 dollars. Your call though.

What did Carlson say say about the CLS, "epic" and "brilliant"?
I've had an E55 and it's the first car I've owned that really made me appreciate the AMG line. The CLS however is something else. Believe me when I tell you that not a day goes where someone is admiring the ride. It's crazy, it's an 8 year old car and still gets parked in front amongst the 458's, the P1's and the LP's.
The CLS you are looking at would trade for around $40K. Is your E55 worth $27K? Doubtful. It sounds like you have $10K in equity on the proposed deal, I would jump all over it.

I own both cars currently (04 e55 and 06 cls) and love them both but if i had to choose one, it would be the cls. Interior is better in quality, everyone who has ridden in both say the cls feels more refined/smoother and the noise that it makes is so much meaner then the e55.
