3000 Stall Torque Converter Review
Each to their own i guess. The car definitely launches alot harder with the stall! Couple buddies of mine have 4000 stalls in naturally aspirated 6.0 litres and they love it. The stalls wake our cars up even more because we have so much torque. And clearly Denroll was holding brake and accelerator, pushed passed the stall speed, got the tyres spinning and then took off. If that video clearly doesnt outline the demonstration of a burnout i dont know what does. I had my brother drive my car a few months before i got the stall an he said it was quick. Had him drive it after the stall and he left a s""t stain in my seat. All joke aside the difference is massive. With our cars having so much torque it makes it that much better. Each to their own, if you on the fence go for a drive with someone who has a stall before you make up your mind
Well said and converters are one of the least understood mods but one of the best ways to multi torque and keep a big car in the peak power band. One reason, so many people have used them and kept them secret for years
Dennis car is a beast and I bet can boil the tires at will! Power mods or street strip converter = need more traction. Dennis is just showing some laws of physics, more power = need more traction = more fun
As you mentioned, a stall converter for a N/A 6.0 litre would need to be much higher to meet that cars power curve and even a 4000 rpm 6.0 stall runs great on the street. I also have run many 4000 to 4500 locking stalls in big N/A engines on the street and love them. As with any engine, the converter has to be matched to the engine and a boosted engine needs to be set up different than an N/A engine.
Dennis and your converter are built for your engines power curve. They have 3 raybestos lock up clutches VS the weak mercedes 2 clutch set up, race bearings and stronger internal pump / stator set up. They are a true street/strip converter built for the 55 Kompressor engine.
Now, before these new 3000 stall converters came out a few years ago, some people took short cuts and sent thier stock , big heavy , 2 clutch pack converter in to some shop to modify it. What that means, is they bend the stator fins over and you get a low stall, weak ,heavy converter that does not do much.

Good info. Maybe it would help if you provided some 60' data. To my knowledge. All the quickest E55 60's have no stall converter just the "weak" factory converter.

when my buddy buys the circle d for his ls turbo builds the man said to him try and break my convertor. blackbenz didn't I provide the data under no traction conditions.
I should be hitting the track this Saturday. More data to be had. My stock converter did not like being brake torqued much at all. Anything over 1200 rpm and it was either pushing through the brakes or trying to do another burnout. I have probably 75 runs or more on my car and have experimented with a lot of different launch techniques and tire pressures with pretty consistent results. A majority of the 60' times were in the 1.8x range with the bad ones being 1.9x, the good being high 1.7x, and my best being 1.76 sec. I know, not very impressive at all considering my mods. I am very confident this converter will help me launch hard. I've already verified that I can brake torque it to 2,000 rpm without any funny business. I need to practice a bit and see how high I can hold it before it wants to break free.
Update
I have put approx 300km on the car since my last post ( 3 days of driving) and the TCU has adapted! No more rpm fluctuation, no more confused shifts, the car drives absolutely incredible! I should have been a little more patient in the beginning. UPD torque converter 
I think this is a great upgrade (drive ability wise) from the stock convertor. Much much smoother now.
As for very aggressive street driving I also think the car pulls away quicker now.
I think anybody planning or contemplating this mod that primarily drives on the street should really consider a stickey tire with as much sidewall as possible to gain the actual upgraded performance. I also think that lower hp cars ( under 500rwhp) will benifit more than higher powered cars due to lack of traction.
In a nut shell if you can put the power to the ground regardless of your hp, this is definitely a performance upgrade and will make your car faster. The only reported side effect is better driveability

That's why 99lightning's 60' times on his car with stock pulleys was pulling better 60' times than mine.

Yea Circle D makes good stuff. I haven't broken my modified stock converter and make more power than most 55s around. Data under no traction = how many times the triangle blinks with ESP on = useless.
Nice! Look forward to your results. If the stall is 3000 you should be able to hold the brake and rev it to 3000rpm. Hopefully you can cut 1.4X 60's since you're heavily modded and have tires. Just like stock converter cars have done

Just out of curiosity, what is the stall speed of the stock converter? I hope I asked that correctly as I'm not that familiar with auto trans inner workings.

I still cant get over this mod. Of everything i have ever done to the E55, the High Stall wins hands down every time! I come out shaking after beating on the car. If that doesnt tell you enough about what mod you should do next, the brown stains left by passengers on my seats will. I had a car load full today. 5 people. Total combined extra weight about 460-470kgs. Give or take. Not one difference was made. With engine under load I was still sliding right through 3rd gear with traction off just like iw ould on my own. Failing to realise how fast i was going at one stage, trying to keep myself on the road and not in someones living room, i glanced down and the car had me literally right up to 100km/h with the rear end kicking out all over the shop on a suburban road. Fair to say the guys i had in the car have driven and been in there fair share of fast cars during their life time, so for them to say that the E was the scariest thing they have been in was a true compliment. And something i would like to thank, Brooke, Shardul and UPD for, without the stall this car wouldnt be nearly as fun to drive. Im sure Denroll would back the claim. Fair enough the factory T/C still holds its own, but until you drive or go into a car with someone who has the stall you wont know what your missing. Its night and day difference. Anyone can watch Denrolls burnout video up to 70mph still painting lines. The engine just revs up so fast with the reduced rotating mass and laying into it you can hear the stall, sounds F*****ng insane. Pulley, Stall, Headers, Cooling and Tune! Mod list for any newbie to this platform and your set!
OK, sorry in advance, but I don't understand why everyone "loves" this modification so much, other than it makes the car "feel" quicker. Here are my concerns :
(1) The fastest e55s are still running factory TC.
(2) The 3000 stall will just make launching the car more impossible....The standard e55 will lay rubber to ~60 mph if you just mash the pedal.
(3) More heat build up in the transmission...Are folks adding a larger pan or additional coolers?
(4) I understand for WOT driving how this modification could be beneficial for a highly modified car, but what about low throttle / around town drivability ?
(5) Do our cars have lockup clutch ? (I don't believe they do.)
I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, but just don't understand automatics / TC that well....
