another twin turbo e55 amg is born at BIP
Not saying it can't be done, but no need to create problems for no reason.
Lastly, makes sure to monitor what your knock sensors are doing. I've seen before problems just as you describe, pulls well initially but gets into the higher band and the power just drops off and often won't even shift to the next gear until you let off the gas. Due to the nature of how the knock sensor works, they can fail and will never set a fault code, but it will most definitely affect performance in the way I just described. Monitor your knock sensor voltage and also your ignition retard when making the pull. I'd first tie those flaps open though if you were previously not controlling them, that will most definitely affect the whole entire upper half of the powerband.
We are talking to my bro Rbj to duplicate what his intake looks like. I dont see how having any runners at all, or plates can be beneficial other than creating alot of turbulence in the upeer rpm range around 5500-6000rpms. This is where we are having power plummet and breakup again.

Make sure he's got everything.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Another small piece of information is that the kit deleted the factory oil cooler that is normally mounted upfront below the heat exchanger. I wonder how much that effected the oil temps, we may need to add that back into the system too.

Also, yes the factory oil cooler was removed. The E55 does come with 2, so it may be fine only on one cooler but the larger one was removed. I removed the same oil cooler but went with an aftermarket one to make up for it. I didnt want to just drive around and see if it worked fine with just one lol.

There are flaps that essentially open and close making the path longer or shorter. B is longer path, A is shorter path
If your flaps are missing then that could be your issue, air turbulence going in both ways through A & B channels. Seal off one set and your problems will likely go away. Sealing off B would probably help with top end.
Below you can see the brass colored flaps:

Best of luck brotha!

I know its easier said then done but, a custom intake manifold or something from the Mopar SRT8 intake manifold would seem like a much better option. It's big and the same shape as the ones you guys are using… Maybe the ports line up too. Or an aluminum adapter should work. Just a thought. GL!!
I think CLS55TT has a superb setup. Very well thought out and it looks and performs great!

I hope you guys find a tuning solution around it because that will help many people
Once that is complete, we will force the stock flaps open on the short runner ports, and will be done at that point. Elliott has this setup and it works great, so we dont anticipate any more issues with the intake.
