well my tank was not leaking, but the seals as you can see on the picture were ripped and there was some part of the pumps that were starting to develop a leak so i had some issues yes but now everything is brand new top to bottom

anyone from San Francisco Bay area that has done this? Mercedes Pleasanton is being an A-Hole about this. Anyone recommend other dealership that they have contact on?

Berti you were lucky they did it for you as fuel has to be leaking for them to change everything

yah i am not complaining i am happy and plus my buddy there who they just made the lead tech is doing a great job. He does the SLS's SLR's etc

Dealer called me back today after them saying they will fix everything. Well they have every new part accept for 1! The Sending unit which is on back order for a month

im from the sf bay area and im going to try contacting sf benz dealership to see what they say about this situation.

w211 e63 2008. - smells like fuel on full tank, smell goes away after 1/4 used.

Asked the service rep to punch my vin into vmi and she said they would do the whole tank, gaskets and senders. Didn't even look at my car

I can't tell you how relieved I am going to be to have this resolved!

Brian/Worth, which dealer did you drop off at? Are you also asking for the reimbursements of the fuel sending units you did a few years ago? Wonder if the dealers are checking for smell and replace all at once or piece meal it. Getting conflicting replies on this thread from members who are denied, getting only what smells of gas, and some the whole complete tank, units, etc...

We all need to listen to what E55 tech posted.
It I s dependent on what the VMI says about your VIN.

If it pops up "fuel tank" then they replace everything without an inspection.

If it pops up "fuel pump" then an inspection is required.
It seems the vast majority wil say fuel tank. I would imagine the only reason it wouldn't is if the history shows all the work had been completed recently.

I dropped mine at ASC IN Ballston VA.

I have not started the reimbursement process yet. I was going to inquire when I pick it up.

Finally got dealer to approve repairs and I got a loaner vehicle. They estimate repairs will be done in 4-5 days.

Hopefully they're replacing everything.

I imagine all E55's have "fuel tank" listed in VMI, since most of the claims with NHTSA were for E55's.

I talked to Mercedes in San Jose (Stevens creek) and they didn't know anything at all. They just said to bring it and they can see why I have fuel smells.

I then talked to Fletcher Jones in Fremont and the guy didn't know either. He was more helpful and said to bring it next week and hopefully the system shows something.

FJ from Ontario has ordered everything for my car (pump, sender, tank, etc) and my SA told me this afternoon I am looking at April before the parts show up. Sounds like a major backorder condition for MBUSA. They put me in a 2015 C250 which is a dog with major turbo lag, but I am enjoying the 30-32 mpg on the highway.
