Telling you guys, whatever leftover inventory probably will be used first be it be the old parts. Do you think they will throw away all the units/tanks that are in inventory? Probably not.

question, why is everyone worried about getting new parts ? even If the dealer used "old" parts they had in stock the warranty is 15 years unlimited miles. I waited about 2 weeks got new tank pumps Ect... and evrything is great now ! If I have a problem in the future it will be fixed again.

hey guys. i just made my appointment to get the tank recall done. When i asked the SA about the pumps and filters, he said he doesn't see anything regarding that and they would need to take a look at that first. Anyone know a way i could get everything done in one shot at their expense?

Take some pictures of the leaking, then wait until parts supply catches up and maybe then the dealers wil be more inclined to recognize any leaks.

A guy I know in Canada had a fusion and there was some warranty work that ford USA had done but when he went they said unless ford Canada authorizes they can't do it, he went to NY to try and have it done and denied.

Took my car in 1.5 weeks ago and they fixed it, but I am still getting the gas smell in cabin. Will be calling dealer up, does anyone see anything out of the ordinary?

Check your fuel sending units underneath your rear seats for leakage. But yeah, it might be a good idea to bring it back

I got a call from my dealer (FJ in Ontario, California) and they said to come and pick up the car because there is an indefinite period of time for the delivery of the parts for this fix. I took the car in almost 4 weeks ago and they previously told me the parts had an ETA of April, though now not sure how long they will take because I couldn't get my SA to commit to a date. Trying to look on the bright side in that I won't get new old stock, but still sucks having to wait this long....

Wishful thinking by MBZ. They damn well know this is a much bigger issue than that... But I'm sure they don't want to start stockpiling tons of parts at all the dealers in preparation for what the REAL volume of repairs coming in.

They might have wanted feedback from the dealers to see how big a problem it was but what's funny is that I bet if you paid they would not have you waiting 4 weeks like some for parts

Great googly moogly!!! I just realized it will be my 5 week anniversary of my car sitting at the dealership for the warranty work this Saturday. I'm not knocking it though. Although I am curious, what's the record so far?

Mine is sitting at the dealer since Tuesday and they are trying to diagnose it. So far no proof of the fuel smell or leaking. Only last week I smelled fuel again. Crossing my fingers...

That's 15 years starting from the ORIGINAL warranty start date. 2003 models that were delivered in 2002 can have as little as 2 years left on the fuel leak warranty. Add in the now-unknown (months?) parts backorder...and ?? Regardless, Once you have the newer updated tank replaced with new pump and sender(s) I think you will be good for a while.
I guess others are in different situations. that means the warranty would run out on MY car in 2021 Correct ? I will probably be selling my car with in a year. so for me I could care less if I got the so called Old parts. IF I have problems with it before then I will just get it fixed again
